Absent: None. Administrative officials present: Bolint, Campbell, Eiser, McCabe, Myers, Peterson, Post, Reid. CONFLICT OF INTEREST Mayor Waters stated this was a workshop meeting to consider two concepts of each of two City approved models of the proposed new Civic Center as designed by the architectural firm of Wheeler—Wimer—Blackman. As he (the mayor) has done business with Wheeler—Wimer—Blackman, he would turn the chair over to Vice Mayor Dalla and would abstain from voting. Vice Mayor Dalla introduced W. Gayne Wimer and Andrew Cotton of Wheeler—Wimer— Blackman. PRESENTATION Mr. Wimer said they had taken the two concepts approved by Council and developed two models of each of those. Mr. Wimer displayed drawings and actual models of the buildings (the first two designated 1A and 1B were the angular concept, the second two designated 2A and 2B the rounded concept). ACTION Members of the City Council/Community Development Commission asked questions of Mr. Wimer and discussed merits of the four models. There appeared to be consensus that model 2A was the chosen model for further development. Mention was made of desirable features such as a clock tower that could be seen from Civic Center Drive, the theater type City Council Chambers, etc. Mr. Wimer agreed to work on 2A further, developing details and variations, giving more attention to the interior design and would be ready to make another presentation at a workshop meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13. ADJOURNMENT Moved by VanDeventer, seconded by Cooper, the meeting be adjourned to the regular 4:00 p.m. Council meeting. Carried by unanimous vote. The meeting closed at 2:43 p.m. CITY CLERje Zee K The foregoing minutes were approved at the regular meeting of August 23, 1988.
