MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA

The December 9, 1986, adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
National City was called to order at 2:00 p.m., December 16, 1986, by Mayor
Waters.
ROLL CALL
Council members present: Cooper, Dalla, Van Deventer, Waters. Absent: Pruitt.
Administrative officials present: Bolint, Mc Cabe, Deputy City Clerk Monday, Post.
(Mayor Waters reported that Councilman Pruitt was unable to be present as he was
attending a meeting relative to the bayfront.)
The Mayor announced this was a workshop meeting to consider street light policy.
STREET LIGHTS
Deputy Public Works Director Donnelly made a presentation, outlining three
alternate courses of action:
1. Purchase the street lights at San Diego Gas and Electric Company's asking
price of $420,900 with the system as is; or $342,550 if the City will, upon
purchase, convert the existing mercury vapor lights to high—pressure sodium.
(The City had the system valuated by a professional evaluator, who said the
system, as is, is worth $208,605; the City made an offer of $240,000.)
2. Take immediate possession through eminent domain proceedings and have
the court determine the price.
3. Maintain present system and add additional lights as requested.
Mr. Donnelly discussed the cost factors involved and answered Council's questions.
Bill Daiber, SDG&E was also present to answer •uestions.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:49 p.m.
