SALUTE TO THE FLAG AND INVOCATION The meeting was opened with salute to the flag led by City Manager McCabe followed with invocation by the Rev. R. Gregory Park, Paradise Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Mayor Morgan reported that Vice Mayor Camacho's brother passed away; the funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church. APPROVAL OF MINUTES eeting of The City Clerk reported that the minutes of the reapgular mvalwould bf April 20, 1982 had not yet been distributed, held over for one week. Mayor Morgan stated that to proceed would require a 4/5 Council vote and requested the hearing be continued one week. Discussion. MR. City Manager McCabe said he thought he could have a report ready in two weeks. Councilman Van Deventer spoke of a new bill regarding underground utilities which would change the amount allocated to the cities. City Manager McCabe said he would be meeting with SDG&E later this week and should have more information on this at that time. Mayor Morgan said most people don't realize what the County, State and governments are doingto the cities; every time a new law is Federal g passed, it costs us money and it's time to tell them we don't need any new laws. Councilman Waters thanked the City Manager for taking care of a situation on Highland Ave. where one ewoffa the heutilities companies put in some lines and the area sank about Councilman Waters read from a letter in which Mrs. Eve Bisberg commended Fire Marshal, George Devendorf; Mr. Devendorf called on her in relation to the Weed Abatement Program and she was impressed with his manner and knowledgability; as he was leaving, he saw some boys take afullt trash bag from the curb in front of a neighboring house and drag l n he street. Mr. Devendorf stopped the boys and had them put the trash back where they found it. Mrs. Bisberg said she has complained so many times that she felt she had to comment on this.
