HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001 12-17 CC ADJ MINBook 83/Page 321 12/17/01 MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA DECEMBER 17, 2001 The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of National City was called to order at 4:08 p.m. by Mayor Waters. ROLL CALL Councilmembers present: Beauchamp, Inzunza, Morrison, Zarate, Waters. Administrative officials present: Dalla, Hradecky, Hunter, McCabe, Morse, Post. Also present: City Treasurer Hood. 1. Discussion of the Transit Occupancy Tax (TOT) of hotels and motels in the community. Senior Assistant City Attorney Hradecky gave an explanation of the legal restraints imposed on TOT tax by the State. Representatives of the hotel / motel industry made a presentation and urged the Council to clarify and modify existing regulations to permit unlimited stays in hotels and motels in the City. Appearing on behalf of the industry were: John Ford, General Manager of Holiday Inn — Pacifica Host Hotels; Cheryl Cox, Cox and Associates; and Patti Finnegan, President of the Chamber of Commerce. Following discussion, staff was requested to come back in January with some recommendations. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned to the Next Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of National City, December 18, 2001, at 6:00 p.m., Council Chambers, Civic Center.
