HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 05-21 CC MIN (2)Book 84/Page 110 5/21/02 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA May 21, 2002 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of National City was called to order at 4:02 p.m. by Mayor Waters. ROLL CALL Councilmembers present: Beauchamp, Inzunza, Morrison, Zarate, Waters. Administrative officials present: Campbell, Dalla, DiCerchio, Eiser, Matienzo, Morse, Myers, Ray, Ruiz. Note: The City Council continued in Joint Session with the Community Development Commission. 1. JOINT CITY COUNCIL AND CDC PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE SALE OF REAL PROPERTY TO THE SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT LOCATED WITHIN THE TWO BLOCK AREA BOUNDED BY 8TH STREET TO THE NORTH, PLAZA BOULEVARD TO THE SOUTH, ROOSEVELT AVENUE TO THE WEST AND NATIONAL CITY BOULEVARD TO THE EAST. CDC Executive Director Desrochers stated that the Joint Pubic Hearing has been duly advertised and that the Report required by State Law relative to the purchase price for the sale of real property has been prepared and available for public view. RECOMMENDATION: Hold the Joint Hearing and consider public testimony. TESTIMONY: Bill Kinney, representing Southwestern Community College, expressed appreciation to the CDC and City staff for their cooperation, and spoke in favor of the sale. ACTION: The hearing was closed. Book 84/Page 111 5/21/02 PUBLIC HEARING (cont.) After the Public Hearing was closed the CDC took action on a related Resolution on the CDC Agenda. (Resolution No. 2002-23) CDC OWNED LAND / SALE (406-4-1) 2. Resolution No. 2002-70. A "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY APPROVING THE SALE OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY (CDC), LOCATED WITHIN THE TWO BLOCK AREA BOUNDED BY 8TH STREET TO THE NORTH, PLAZA BOULEVARD TO THE SOUTH, ROOSEVELT AVENUE TO THE WEST AND NATIONAL CITY BOULEVARD TO THE EAST, TO THE SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT (SCCD) AND MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS IN CONNECTION HEREWITH." RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommended approval. TESTIMONY: None. ACTION: Motion by Morrison, seconded by Inzunza, to approve Resolution 2002-70. Carried by unanimous vote. The CDC then took action on a related Resolution on the CDC Agenda. (Resolution No. 2002-15). ADJOURNMENT Motion by Morrison, seconded by Beauchamp, the meeting be adjourned to the Next Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of National City, on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at 6:00 p.m., Council Chambers, Civic Center.
