MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY,
CALIFORNIA,
MEETING IN JOINT SESSION WITH GOVERNING BOARD OF
THE NATIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
March 23, 2004
The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of National
City was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Mayor Nick Inzunza.
ROLL CALL
Councilmembers present: Inzunza, Morrison, Natividad, Parra, Ungab.
Administrative officials present: Campbell, Dalla, Deese, Diaz, Eiser,
Hyland, Kirkpatrick, Morse, Pauu, Trees, Zapata.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag led by Mayor Inzunza.
PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATIONS — None.
WORKSHOP DISCUSSION ITEMS
George Cameron, Ed.D., Superintendent of the National School District
made a presentation outlining the District's concerns and efforts regarding
student and traffic safety, provided and overview of the Safe Routes to
Schools Grant Application Program (SR25), and recommended formation of
a Joint Task Force to prepare a grant application.
ACTION: Motion by Parra, seconded by Natividad, to direct staff to
work with the School Board to develop the subcommittee to look into
the grant funding to include CDC and Council representatives.
Carried by unanimous vote.
School Board: Motion by Campbell, seconded by Grier, to go along
with the City Council motion. Carried by unanimous vote.

Leslie Deese, Executive Assistant to the City Manager, reviewed how
individual City Departments are working with the schools to better
serve the community.
Mayor Inzunza left the meeting room at 10:40 a.m.
Mayor Inzunza returned to the meeting at 10:50 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned to the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City
Council to be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at 3:00 p.m., Council
Chambers, Civic Center.
The meeting closed at 11:00 a.m.
The foregoing minutes were approved at the Regular Meeting of May 4,
2004.
