HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004 05-18 CC MIN (2)Book 86/Page 122 5/18/04 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA May 18, 2004 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of National City, meeting in Joint Session with the Community Development Commission, was called to order at 3:49 p.m. by Mayor Nick Inzunza. ROLL CALL Councilmembers present: Inzunza, Morrison, Natividad, Parra, Ungab. Administrative officials present: Condon, Dalla, Diaz, Eiser, Hyland, Kirkpatrick, Matienzo, Morse, Pauu, Post, Trees, Zapata. Interim CDC Executive Director Martinez recommended that the Joint Public Hearing of the Community Development Commission and the City Council be opened and continued to May 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. ACTION: Motion by Parra, seconded by Natividad, in favor of the Director's recommendation. Carried by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes:Inzunza, Natividad, Parra, Ungab. Nays: Morrison. Absent: None. Abstain: None. PUBLIC HEARING CDC OWNED LAND / SALE (406-4-1) 1. JOINT PUBLIC HEARING OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AND CITY COUNCIL: REGARDING THE SALE OF REAL PROPERTY TO MARINA GATEWAY DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, LLC AND SYCUAN TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LOCATED ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF BAY MARINA DRIVE AND HARRISON AVENUE RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommended that the Joint Public Hearing of the City Council and the Community Development Commission be opened and continued to May 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. TESTIMONY: Randolph Myrseth, National City, spoke against selling the property. Edith Hughes, National City, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, spoke in favor to the development but expressed concerns about the potential for gambling. Mary Martin, National City, spoke against the sale. Book 86/Page 123 5/18/04 PUBLIC HEARING (cont.) CDC OWNED LAND / SALE (406-4-1) ACTION: Motion by Natividad, seconded by Morrison, to continue the Joint City Council / CDC Public Hearing; Item No. 2 on the City Council Special Meeting Agenda (Resolution 2004-78), and CDC Resolution No. 2004-56, to an Adjourned Special Meeting of the City Council and an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the CDC on March 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Carried by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes: Inzunza, Natividad, Parra, Ungab. Nays: Morrison. Absent: None. Abstain: None. CDC OWNED LAND / SALE (406-4-1) 2. Resolution No. 2004-78: APPROVING THE SALE OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION TO MARINA GATEWAY DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, LLC AND SYCUAN TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LOCATED ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF BAY MARINA DRIVE AND HARRISON AVENUE. RECOMMENDATION: None. TESTIMONY: None. ACTION: This item was continued. See above. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Inzunza, seconded by Ungab, the meeting be adjourned to the Regular Meeting of the City Council, March 18, 2004, at 6:00. Carried by unanimous vote.
