HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957 07-02 CC ADJ MIN349 National City, California, July 2, 1957 Adjourned meeting of the City Council of June 2, 1957 was called to order by Mayor Hodge at 1:00 P.M. o'clock. Council members present: Fessman, Hart, Heck, Hodge. Council members absent: Hollingsworth. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIALS present: Alston, Bird, Curran, Stockman. CITY CLERK ALSTON stated the purpose of the adjourned meeting is to terminate the business for the end of the fiscal year. COIVIMUNICATION FROM CITY MANAGER BIRD was read stating he was submit- ting the 1957-1958 budget for approval of the Council. The tax rate anticipated will be $1.55 per one hundred dollar valuation as fol- lows: Park $ .24 Library .23 Retirement .12 General Fund .88 Bond Fund #8 .08 TOTAL $ 1.55 MAYOR HODGE stated this is the budget which the Finance Committee has approved and recommended. Moved by Fessman, seconded by Heck, that the budget be accepted and adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Fessman, Hart, Heck, Hodge. Nays: None. Absent: Hollingsworth. COMMUNICATION FROM CITY TREASURER HOLGATE was read stating that as of May 31, 1957 the City Treasurer's fund accounts reflects a cash balance remaining in Sinking Fund #6 of $991.49. By audit of the re- cords pertaining to this bond issue, it is determined that all bonds and interest coupons and other obligations against this particular bond issue have been paid and the balance that remains can be trans- ferred. RESOLUTION NO. 6993 was read, authorizing the transfer of $991.49 from Bond Sinking Fund {t6 to Bond Sinking Fund #8. Moved by Fessman, seconded by Hart, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Fessman, Hart, Heck, Hodge. Nays: None. Absent: Hollingsworth. RESOLUTION NO. 6994 was read, adopting the 3Salary Schedule 1957-58il, effective July 1, 1957. Moved by Heck, seconded by Fessman, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Fessman, Hart, Heck, Hodge. Nays: None. Absent: Hollingsworth, COMMUdICATION FROM CITY MANAGER BIRD was read tendering his resignat- ion as Building Inspector effective June 30, 1957, and recommending the appointment of N. S. Biggs as Building Inspector, Rate 26-E, effective July 1, 1957. Moved by Fessman, seconded by Hart, that the resignation of James A. Bird as Building Inspector be accepted, Carried, all the Council present voting aye. Moved by Fessman, 7/2/57 350 seconded by Hart, that N. S. Biggs be appointed Building Inspector. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Fessman, Hart, Heck, Hodge. Nays: None. Absent: Hollingsworth. COMMUNICATION FROM CITY MANAGER BIRD was read recommending the ap- pointment of Cleo 0sburn as Administrative Assistant to the City Manager, rate 22, effective July 1, 1957. Moved by Heck, seconded by Fessman, that the appointment of Mr. 0sburn as Administrative Assistant be approved. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Fessman, Hart, Heck, Hodge. Nays: None. Absent: Hollingsworth. MAYOR HODGE proclaimed July and August 4no coat month. for Councilmen and executives. Moved by Fessman, seconded by Hart, that the meeting be closed.
