HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953 09-08 CC ADJ MIN53 National City, California, September 8, 1953 Adjourned meeting of September 1, 1953, of the City Council was called to order at 7:00 P.M. o'clock by Mayor Sarn. Councilmen present: Carrigan, McClure, Parchen, Sarn. Councilmen absent: None. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIALS present: Alston, Campbell, Gautereaux. MAYOR SARN stated that the meeting tonight was for the purpose of filling the vacancy on the Council. Moved by Parchen, seconded by Sarn, that Charles B. Campbell be' appointed to fill the vacancy on the City Council, term expiring April 1954. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Carrigan, McClure, Parchen, Sarn. Nays: None. CITY CLERK ALSTON administered the oath of office to Council- man Campbell. MRS. KODISH was present and stated that it was her under- standing the pool will be open tomorrow, which is Admission Day, and a holiday, and the Community Bldg. will be open for two functions, but not for a scheduled function which has been given to the Youth Center of this City. No notice has been given that the building will not be open, and wondered what policy has been established, and the basis for the policy. CITY MANAGER GAUTEREAUX stated the entire Recreation Dept. will be off tomorrow on a legal. holiday. The pool is a facility of the City that is open to the public due to the fact that the public pay* their way through admission. We will have no recreational supervision unless it is so directed. COUNCILMAN CARRIGAN asked if it would not be possible to make some arrangements so that the build- ing can be available to the Youth Center tomorrow. Moved by Parchen, seconded by McClure, that City Manager Gautereaux be authorized to have a responsible employee at the Community Bldg. tomorrow during the hours of the youth activity. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Parchen, seconded by McClure, that the meeting be closed. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. T-.
