COMMUNICATION FROM FIRE CHIEF BAILEY was read. According to
the tentative map there is sufficient access to all lots with-
in the subdivision itself, however, the subdivision is isolated
to a degree. It will be necessary to install three six inch
fire hydrants to properly protect the improvements when the
subdivision is completed.
RESOLUTION NO. 5574 was read, approving the tentative map of
Fogarty's Subdivision, subject to all the conditions and re-
quirements imposed by the Planning Commission and Fire Chief
of the City of National City by Ordinance No. 803. Moved by
Ingalls, seconded by Hart, that the Resolution be adopted.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
COMMUNICATION FROM HERLUF BRYDEGAARD, Architect, was read. To
professional services upon completion of preliminary plans for
the new City Library, a fee of 2% of the cost of the construct-
ion is due and payable now. Estimated cost $52,500.00, fee
due $1,050.00. Fee due upon completion of working drawings
for the remodeling of the Recreation Building is $318.00.
This figure represents the actual office expense, no profit
is included. Payment was not recommended by City Manager
Seifert. MAYOR CARRIGAN asked the City Manager if he has been
able to locate any contract with Mr. Brydegaard. CITY MANAGER
SEIFERT stated he spoke to the Architect and there is no con-
tract. There was no excuse to enter into the work without a
contract because he had other contracts with the City to
design the Fire Station. Moved by Hart, seconded by Clarke,
we accept the recommendation of the City Managor, that the
claim be denied. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes:
Clarke, Curry, Hart, Ingalls, Carrigan. Nays: None.
COMMUNICATION FROM FIRE CHIEF BAILEY was read, stating that on
October 20, 1951, Edmond K. Crossley will have completed his

six months period as probationary Fireman Engineer, and re-
commended he be given permanent status as Fireman Engineer at
the estabildhed rate of pay of this position. Moved by Bart,
seconded by Ingalls, that the recommendation of !Fire Chief
Bailey be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye.
COMMUNICATION FROM CITY MANAGER SEIFERT in regard to the rental
of the City Court room was road. The County Administrator has
approved our proposal of renting the present Court Room for a
period of ton years, at a rental of $150.00 per month. The
City is to build three additional office rooms,' to be roady
for occupancy by January 1, 1952. Details of the lease, etc
will be specifically set forth in the lease as propared by
the County Attorney and tho City Attorney. Details of cost
for construction, etc to be furnishod in the vory near future.

COMMUNICATION FROM THE RECRELTION COMMISSION was road. The
letter made reference to a letter written by City Manager
Seifert to Mr. B. J. Gautoroaux stating that offectivo
October 4, 1981, the Recroation Director, W. Crossley, will
be responsible to you in the chain of command. Effoctive this
date, the Recreation Commission of the City of'National City,
hereby submits its resignation. Moved by Clarke, seconded by
Hart; that the resignation of the Recreation Commission bo
accoptod, and that oach member be sent a_lettor of thanks for
east services. MAYOR CARRIGAN said he would like to have a

COMMUNICATION FROM CHIEF OF POLICE SMITH was road, recommending
tho purchaso of throo Motorola Motorcyclo Radio Units at
$522.50 each, caso and mounting cradlos to bo purchased
soparately et a total cost of 012.60. It is suggostod tho
bid on car radios bo continuod for ono wook for furthor study.
It is requested that $400,00 bo transferred from Junior Patrol
Outlay Fund to tho Radio Outlay Fund in ordor to allow for
tho purchaso of now crystals which will bo necessary in ordor
to change froquoncy to tho now wavo length as ordorod by tho

and with that many under instruction end a nrogran of this
naturo it soons that thoro was quito a lack of activity from
tho National City Rocreation Swim Class in tho Fiesta. Mrs.
Kodish wondored 1f this was due to tho fact that they wore not
allowed to practice in tho pool at night. SUPERINTENDENT OF
PARKS AND RECREATION GLUTEREAUX statod tho childron in the
swim classes aro fairly shall to bo in a program such as the
Fiesta Water Show in such a short time. Thorn is much potential
talent in this group and a great'nany of tho childron will bo
good for show.
