HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949 01-06 CC ADJ MIN164 National City, California, January 6, 1949 Adjourned meeting of the City Council of January 4, 1949, was called to order by Mayor Gilbert E. Fritz at 8:00 P. M. o'clock. Councilmen present: Adams, Curry, Matthews, Thatcher, Fritz. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIALS present: Dickson, Rogers. MAYOR FRITZ introduced J. Philip McClure, applicant for the position of City Engineer. Mr. McClure briefly told of his ex- perience and qualifications for the position. After Mr. McClure was excused a discussion of the position was held. RESOLUTION NO. 4876 was read, authorizing the appointment of Mr, J. Philip McClure to the position of City Engineer, salary $500.00 per month, effective January 10, 1949. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Matthews, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Matthews, Thatcher, Fritz. Nays: None. Not voting: Adams, Curry, RESOLUTION NO. 4877 was read, accepting a grant deed from Daniel J. Corliss and Eleanore M. Corliss on the following described property: North 30' of East 165' of West 1/2 of 80 Acre Lot 2, i Section 129. Moved by Adams, seconded by Thatcher, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. A proposed resolution for compensation insurance for volunteer workers in National City under the California State Disaster Council plan was presented. After discussion it was suggested by Administrative Officer Dickson that the City Attorney be in- structed to prepare a suitable resolution and ordinance and submit same at the next meeting of the City Council. If!5 RESOLUTION NO. 4878 was read, granting a special permit to Lucas Marin to convert building with one foot front yard into dwelling: Southwest corner 17th Street and McKinley, Lots 21 and 22, Block 239, City Plat, as recommended by the Planning Commission. Moved by Adams, seconded by Thatcher, that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. 4879 was read, granting a zone variance to Frank W. Rogers for a 15 foot set back on Lots 14 to 28, inclusive and 30 to 38 inclusive of Palmcrest Subdivision,. in the NEI of 40 Acre Lot 2, Quarter Section 131, Rancho de la Nacion as recommended by the Planning Commission. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Curry, that the resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Curry, that the meeting be closed.
