HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947 07-08 CC ADJ MIN8 National City, California, July 8, 1947 Adjourned meeting of July 1, 1947, of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Pritz at 7:30 P,M, Councilmen present: Adams, Cordingly, Newberry, Fritz, Councilmen absent: Thatcher, Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the reading of the minutes of July 1, 1947, be dispensed with, Carried, all Council- men present voting aye. ADMINISTRATIVE OPFICIAt,S present: Dickson, Roget, ADNINISTRATIVE OFFICER DICKSON reported on the_negotiations with S, Z, Greenberg for the acquisition of Park land, Mr, Greenberg agrees to give the following to the City: full title on Lots 10- 11, Block 2, 10 Acrc Lot 8, + Section 154; Commidsioner's title on Lo,t 11, Block 4, 10 Acre Lot 7. + Section 154/ County interest and fee interest on Lots73.10, Block 19, City Plat; on Lots 13- 19, Block 109, City Plat; on Lots 1-9 and 12-20, Block 2, 10 Acrc Lot 8, + Section 154, Mr, Greenberg was present and also agrecd to give the City fee interest on Lots 13-20, Block 19, City Plat, and give the City four bonds on Lots 10.11, Block 2, 10 Acre Lot 8, * Section 154. far which the City will pay lire, Greenberg $1,087,56, Mr Greenberg will receive title from the City on Lots 1-6, Block 21; Lots 3-10, Block 23; Lots 13-20, Block 41; all in City Plat; Lots 12.20, Block 1, 10 Acrc Lot 8, ? Section 154, Mr, Greenberg will pay the delinquent taxes in thc amount of $1,087,56 and the City will file a disclaimer on the quiet title suit filed by ir, Greenberg, It is rccommendcd by City Clerk Rogcrs and Administrative Officer Dickson, that the City accept thc proposal. RESOLUTION NO, 4435 was read, authorizing Attorney Campbell to 9 file a disclaimer on the quiet title suit filed by S, Z, Green- berg, on receipt of $1,087,56 from TSr, Greenberg, Moved by New- berry, seconded by Cordingly:r that the Resolution be adopted, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, RESOLUTION NO, 4436 was read, authorizing City Clerk Rogers to pay S. Z, Greenberg $1,087,56 for his interest in the following Lots: Lots 10-11, Block 2, 10 Acre Lot 8, + Section 154; Lot 11, Block 4, 10 Acre Lot 7, * Section 154; Lots 1-9 and 12-20, Block 2, 10 Acre Lot 8, * Section 154; Lots 3-10, Block 19, and Lots 13-19, Block 109, City Plat; Lots 13-20, Block 19, City Plat; and four improvement bonds on Lots 10-11, Block 2, 10 Acre Lot 8, } Section 154, Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO, 4437 was read, authorizing Mayor Gilbert E. Pritz, on behalf of the City to enter into an agreement with the Electrical Products Corp, for a period of 36 months commencing July 1, 1947, at $10,50 per month for the rental of the Zeon sign, Moved by Newberry, seconded by Adams, that the Resolution be adopted, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, APPLICATION for on sale beer to Jack Stout, 2042 'McKinley Avenue, was read, Tfayor uritz referred the application to Chief of Police Bates, RESOLUTION NO, 4438 was read, authorizing City Clerk Rogers, on behalf of the City, and subject to approval of Attorney Campbell, to sign a contract with the State Employees Retirement System to make a survey in regard to the installation of a retirement system for City employees,, cost to be $297,00. :loved by Adams, seconded by Cordingly, tint the Resolution be adopted, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. it 10 RESOLUTION NO, 4439 was read, authorizing the City Engineer to draw an encroachment permit for the Commandant, Eleventh Naval District to cut through Division Street near Coolidge Avenue in order to run their power line under ground, ;.loved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. CITY ASSESSOR '10GERS stated that the Council is now sitting as a Board of Equalization. RESOLUTION NO, 4440 was read, that the Council is meeting as a Board of Equalization, Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the 1947-1948 budgets of all departments be adopted, excepting the salaries, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, CITY ASSESSOR ROGTRS reported on the proposed re -appraisal of property, and stated that cost is not included in the bud;et.
