M, Councilmen present: Adams, Cord- ingly, Thatcher, Fritz. Councilmen absent: Newberry, Moved by Adams, seconded by Cordingly, that the reading of the minutes of the regular meeting of August 19, 1947, be dispens- ed with. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Adams, that the request be referred to Chief of Police Bates, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. s o- 41 COMMUNICATION PROM THE CITY 0' LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, relative to sewage disposal plants, was read and ordered filed, COMMUNICATION 710M A, L, JOHNST)N, NATIONAL REa'INERY, was read, requesting the City to oil 20th Street from Bay Blvd, to Cleveland Avenue, 'layne Smith, AssIt Engineer, was present and presented a map designating the proposed streets of major importance, which covered 49 miles but which will have to be reduced to 36 miles, Mayor Fritz referred the map back to the Engineers to complete. COUNCILMAN NETB RRY present, ENDORSEMENT )L CERTIlICATE 7�+' INSURANCE which covers B, J, Primmer d,b,a, The San Diego Seat Advertising Co„ City of San Diego, El Cajon and National City was presented and approved by Attorney Campbell, ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER DICKSON reported that Mr, Primmer of the San Diego Seat Advertising Co, has accepted the contract as revised by the City, COMMUNICATION :MOM DON CRIPPEN, Don's Mobile Service, was road, requesting the refund of $2,80 on his business license as he has sold his business, Chief Bates approved the request, City Clerk Rogers informed the Council that they might not have authority to make refunds on basic licenses, and suggested the attorney look into the matter, Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that Attorney Campbell give a ruling on the legality of this type of refunds, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, CIMMUNICATION ?ROM JAMES ALLEN, janitor was read, stating that he was tendering his resignation, effective September 18th, 4 and requesting that he be placed on the reserve list, Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the resignation be accepted and his name be placed on the reserve list, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, APPLICATIDN OF ARTURO NARTINEZ to move a building from 1784 Kearney Avenue, San Diego, to Lots 11-12, Block 147, City Plat, was read, Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the request be granted provided the building is brnught to the requirements of the building oode and completed within six months from this date, Carried, all Councilmen present voting Vs, MAYOR FRITZ announced that it was 8:00 P, M, o'clock and the bids would be opened at this time, Bid from the San Diego Gas & Electric Co, on Lighting District #1 was $783,60, Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the bid be accepted, Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Adams, Cordingly Thatcher, Fritz. JUSTICE, was read, requesting the City to extend the negotiation time of the tideland settlement fifteen days, Administrative Officer Dickson gave a resume of the progress of the settlement, and suggested that the City set up a rental and eviction date for actual possession of the land, Moved by Adana, seconded by Newberry, that the 15 days extension be.granted thus making the final negotiation date September 17, 1947. S, NAVY PURCHASING J22ICE was rend, requesting an amendment to the Naval Surly Depot -San Diego Contract N244e-39385 for sewer service with the City, :Soved by Adams, seconded by Cordingly, that Mayor Gilbert E, 2ritz be authorized to sign the amendment on behalf of the City, Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye, RESOLUTION NO, 4467 was read, accepting a grant deed for street purposes only from Frank A, Richards, Jr, on the following 44 described property: E 30' of S 701 of N 330' of SW* of NW*, * Section 107.
