Councilmen present: Christman, Newberry, Thatcher, Fritz. Councilmen absent: Cordingly. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Christman, that the reading of the minutes be dispensed with. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIALS present: Fuson, Bates, Bird, Ratelle, Gautereaux, Finnerty, Vansant, Ireland, Rogers. Bills audited by the Finance Committee presented: General Fund $1,472.26 Street Imp. Fund 111.71 Park Maint. " 80.21 Light. Dist. #1 32.65 Unapp. Tax Fund .50 FWA " 25.00 TOTAL $1,722.33 Moved By Newberry, seconded by Christman, the the bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Mr. Pittman, owner of the National City Transit Service, was present and requested a City franchise. Mayor Fritz referred the matter to the Police Committee. Councilman Cordingly present. Mr. Harvey was present in regard to the drainage conditions on his property in Paradise Valley. Mayor Fritz referred the situation to Street Supt. Finnerty. PETITION SIGNED BY FIVE OWNERS OF TRAILER PARKS was read, protesting the license fee for trailer parks. Attorney Ratelle agreed to give a decision at the next regular meeting. RESOLUTION NO. 2767 was read, dedicating a portion of Lot 18, Block 244, City Plat, for highway purposes. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO.2768 was read, authorizing a salary increase of Frank A. Clark to $195.00 per month, effective January 1, 1945. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be 731. 717-2 adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ✓ COP,MTJMICATION FROIfi SAMLTEL M. ROBERTS, SECRETARY, was read, relative to the League of Municipalities dinner to be`'held Friday evening at 6:45 in the La Mesa Country Club, with the City of La Mesa as host. COi,L£UNICATION FROII SAN DIEGO CITY COUNCIL expressing their appreciation for the Resolution in tribute of Walter Cooper, was read and ordered filed. COMMUNICATION FROM NAVY MOTHERS CLUB, inviting the City Council to the installation of the officers of South Bay Navy Mother's Club #103 on Jan. 5th, was read and ordered filed. .�w.< -COMMUNICATION UNICATION FROM CALIFORNIA STATE :WAR COUNCIL, request- ing the passage of a Resolution, was read. Mayor Fritz re- ferred the matter to Councilman Thatcher. b/ RESOLUTION NO. 2769 was read, accepting grant deeds from M. Floyd Finnerty and James A. Bird; Iv?arvin L. Harvey Jr., for a portion of 80 Acre Lot 2, % Section No. 130, to be used for Street purposes only. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Coun- cilmen present votin- aye. FOLLOWING NOTICES OF TAX SALES WERE READ: Nos.3378, 3384, 3314, 3431, 3446. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that they be accpeted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. kZ COPfMUNICATION FROiI JOHN H. FUSON SR. was read, in regard to the existing fire hazard near the Shop. Mayor Fritz in- structed the City Clerk to call the Commodore to stop hauling any more wood. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the City insure Fuson's equipment. Carried,all Councilmen present voting aye. - ✓Minutes of adjourned meeting of the Board of Directors of San Diego County Water Authority of December 15, 1944, were read and ordered filed. //COMMUNICATION FROM JAMES A. ABBEY enclosing the Policy of 732. Insurance No. 354157 for the property purchased recently by the City. Mayor Fritz ordered the document filed. ✓.RESOLLTION N0. 277D was read, agreement with Division of Highways for expenditure of a Cent Gas Tax for State Highways and authorizing Mayor Gilbert E. Fritz to sign the documents. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Christman, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. —Engineer Ireland reported on the over -loaded condition of the sewer line in old town caused by the Federal Housing Projects. Mr. Ireland contacted the Federal Officials and the repairs are to be made at Government expense. 1"-- Mr. Pallas requested permission to remove a tree, without making a deposit, as the tree is in the business district on 8th Street near Highland avenue. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the permission be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION Is0. 2771 was read, dissolving Resolution No. 2766, whereby C. W. Vansant was appointed Deputy Assessor. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Christman, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. WRESOLUTION NO. 2772 was read, appointing C. W. Vansant as Deputy License Collector. Salary to be $75.00 per month for the first year, effective January 1, 1945. Moved by Christman, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried all Councilmen present voting aye. Garage Mechanic Fuson was present in regard to the wrecked Police car. The matter was laid over until the next regular meeting. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the meeting adjourn.
