Councilmen present: Christman, Cordingly, Newberry, Thatcher, Fritz. RESOLUTION NO. 2969 was read, authorizing the appointment of Hazel Howe to the staff of the Federal Recreation Building for the period from September 1, 1945 to September 15, 1945, in- clusive, salary $165.00 per month. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. COMIiUNICATIOid FROM A. LORETTO SNELL announcing her from the staff of the Federal Recreation Building, September 15, 1945, was read. Moved by Christman, by Newberry, that the resignation be accepted. Councilmen present voting aye. resignation effective seconded Carried, all Johnson Oil Co. to RESOLUTION NO. 2970 was read, granting permission to/move a service station buildinE and equipment from Park .Robinson, San Diego to Lots 13-14-15, Block 244, under the supervision of Fire 6hief Bird. Moved seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be ad all Councilmen present voting aye. Blvd. and City Plat, by Christman, opted. Carried, COM:4UNICAT_ION FROM OFFICE OF PRICE ADLMINISTRATION, DISTRICT OFFICE, expressing their appreciation to the City of National City for the quarters provided for the local Rationing Board, which they are vacating September 18th, was read and ordered filed. MAYOR FRITZ suggested that after the Ration Board vacates the Council Chambers, that the room be renovated for the Council s use again. It was agreed by the Council to have the necessary repairs made and to purchase the needed furniture. 832 NOTICE FROM: STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION that S. Z. Greenberg, Fish Bowl Cafe, has made application for on sale beer and wine license, was read. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the matter be referred to the Chief of Police Bates for a report at the next meeting. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. 2971 was read, authorizing the renewal of the sub- club/scription to The American City Magazine for the ensuing year at $7.00. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. 2972 was read, accepting a check for $1,100.00 from the Federal Works Agency for the Federal Recreation Building for the period ending September 30, 1945. Moved by Christman, seconded by Newberry, that the Resolution be adopted: Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Christman, that Supt. Gautereaux make a regulation to the Federal Works Agency to operate the Federal P,ecregtion Building for the month of October. Carried, all Cpur_cilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION N0. 2973 was read, accepting a $5,000.00 bond on the Chief of Police for the ensuing year at $25.00. Moved by Christman, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. COMMUNICATION FROM TfiE MEXICAN PATRIOTIC COMT,IITTEE was read, which requested use of the City Park September 16th, also use of th.e,band stand and tennis court from 6:PM to 12!PM for celebration of Mexican Independence Day. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the request be granted under the supervision of Park Supt. Gautereaux. RESOLUTION NO. 2974 was read, authorizing the transfer of $2,400.00 from the General Fund to the Library Fund, which constitutes 833 a loan, to be repaid when tax money has been distributed. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Christman, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. RESOLUTION NO. for the fiscal 2975 was read, adopting the tax rate of year 1945-1946, distributed as follows: General Fund $1.00 Library " .18 Park M & I! .23 Sink. Fund_#4 .07 Sink. Fund #6 .10 Sink. Fund #7 .03 Plan. Com. Fund .14 TOTAL $1.75 $1.75 Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. JOSEPH VURGASON was present relative to the pigeons roosting on the ledge of the drugstore which over hangs the sidewalk on Eighth Street. It was agreed by the Council that the matter be referred to Councilman Newberry. MAYOR FRITZ stated that Mr. Lysinger, called relative to the City accepting pumping station. Moved by Christman, Paradise Valley Sanitarium, the 8th Street sewer seconded by Cordingly, that the matter be laid over until the next regular meeting when Supt. Finnerty and Engineer Ireland can make a report on the situation. Carried,all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the meeting ad- journ.
