Bird relative to classification of phones for Civilian Defense.
✓Com_munication from the Division of Hi-weys requesting the
establishing of a uniform 35 mile speed limit on ell of U.S. 101
along Harbor Drive to the Intersection of Eighth Street and Roose-
velt Avenue in National City. 'loved by Christman and seconded by
Cordingly, the recommendation of such a proposal. Carried, all
Councilmen voting eye with the exception of r'ritz.

of the Northwest 1/4 of Cuarter Section 107, National Rancho.

end 5 in Elock 147, City Flat, presented. Moved by Cordingly and
seconded by Christman that RESOLUTION No. 2565 be adopted, no protest

regarding the operation of the Sewer pumping Flat't,they to operate
the ?legend the City of National City to nay for the operation and
maintenance. 'loved by Newberry and seconded by Cordingly, advising
Mr. Ireland to communicate with the Navy Department, advising them
that the City would prefer to operate the Tlent themselves. Carried,
all Councilmen voting eye. Councilmen absent; none.
TLr. Alsdorf, representing the Citizen's Committee requested

the City Council to pass anti Ordinance reouiring Cocktail Pars and
Cafes serving liquor, to maintain windows, which permit their est-
ablishments to be oven to Public view. rrs. Einstein spoke on the
same subject. Foard of Fouelization hes no Ruling on this matter.
Moved by Christman, seconded by Cordingly that the matter be referred
to the Police Committee, for recommendation at the next regular meet-
ing. Carried. All Councilmen voting Aye. Councilmen absent: none

v'Mr. Ireland, representing the Planning Commission, recommended
the appointment of Clyde Price to replace L.E.C. 3rnith, who wishes
to resign, es a member of the Planning Commission. !-'r. Ireland re -
Guested to present more names to the Council before e decision is
made. Sewage measuring meter should have arrived today but failed
to do so.
Lieutenant Paul McCarthy asked for permission, to barricade and
use red lights, on l6th St. between Roosevelt and '-oover fives. on
Wednesday nights, between the hours of 7:3C and 9:70, for use of the
State Guard, for Frilling purposes. Moved by "ordingly, seconded by
Newberry that permission be granted. Carried. ell Councilmen present
voting Aye. Councilmen absent: none.

be edonted , showing that the City of Nationel City agrees to follow
the rules end regulations of the California State "Jar Council, est-
ablishing classes of Civilian Defense 7orkers, scope of duties of

`/Mr. 3autereaux asks for permission to take his two weeks
vacation starting January 24, 1944. Ts to be out of town for one
week. Granted.
✓!ir. Christman suggests, that a system be arranged for the filing
of the Ordinances, now in a box in the Clerk's Vault. Clerk's Cffice
and Fire Dept. to co-operate in the work.

Retelle advises the Police Department, to continue to
collect Trailor Tax from the operators of the Trailor Courts and
Camps, and if they do not pay, to revoke their licenses, with the
exception of the four operators, who have filed suit against the City.

Councilman Cordingly excused.
'Ray Newberry, Chairman of the Harbor Development Committee,
reported on the meeting held recently in Sen Diego. Another meeting
scheduled soon. ?-Ie gave several very good suggestions end stressed
the need of a street directly open to the Bey. Also concerning',the
rumors being spread about of the U. S. Government eouiring the
property north of National City and Fest of Mein Street, including
Main Street. Just rumors. Mr. Newberry to draft a letter to be sent
to Commodore McCandless concerning the matter, also thet the Chember
of Commerce sent a letter to him. At the present time the Harbor
Board consists of three men, all of San Diego. Mr. Newberry suggests
e Board of Seven men, consisting of men from San Diego end one from
each of the outlying towns.4� Thi matter to be discussed et the next
meeting of the County Committee. Letter to be sent to Admiral Blakeley
Commandant of the Eleventh Navel District concerning this matter.
