National City, California, June 27, 1944.
Adjourned meeting of June 20, 1944, of the City Council
called to order by the Mayor. Councilmen present --Christman,
Cordingly, Fritz. Councilmen absent --Newberry and Thatcher.
Mayor Fritz requested that the minutes of the last meet-
ing be dispensed with on account of it being an adjourned
meeting.
Administrative officials present: Bonnell, Vansant,
Ratelle, Ireland, Rogers.
Bills audited by the Finance Committee, presented:
General Fund $547.32
Street " • 29.97
Park " 113.96
Spec. Gas_Tax Fund 219.61
TOTAL $910.86
Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be
allowed and warrants ordered drawn for sane. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
Mr. Arthur was present in regard to repairs on his
garage at 5th Street & D Avenue, caused from the over-
flow of water from 5th Street during the rainy season.
In view of the fact that the City has no control over the
priorities, no action was taken.
Councilmen Thatcher and Newberry present.
✓ HARBOR DRIVE communication from E. E. Wallace, District
Engineer of the Division of Highways in regard to National
City's protest, was read and ordered filed.
S. Z. GREENBERG'S OFFER of $300.00 to cover 'delinquent
taxes and penalities on Lots 15-22 inclusive, Block 22, City
Plat, was read. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Christman,
that the City accept this offer as an opening bid. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting, -aye.
ON -SALE BEER LICENSE of George F. Young, White Palace
7 ) Grill #1, was recommended in a communication from Chief of

P\N° A Police, read and ordered filed.
CADTCELLATION OF APPOINTMENT of Special Police Officer
Russell H. Davis by his own request, was requested in a
communication from Chief of Police which was read and ordered

filed.
BEER IMPORTER'S APPLICATION of Albert Berenson, United
Beer and Wine Distributors, was read and laid over until the
next regular meeting.
PAYMENT OF $34.12 by R. W. Getty, San Diego County
Auditor -Controller, the City's portion of the proceeds of
Tax Sales Nos. 2978 & 2929 on Lot 8, Block 3, San Diego
Land & Town Company's Sub. t Section 154, 10 Acre Lot 4;
also Lot 8, Block 11, 10 Acre Lot 4, a Section 154, Land
& Town Company's Sub., was submitted. Moved by Christman,
seconded by Cordingly, that the monies be accepted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
RESOLUTION NO. 2651, authorizing the transfer of $9000.00
from the General Fund to the Harbor Fund, was read. Moved by
Gordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the Resolution be adop-
ted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
SURETY BOND to be carried by the Chief of Police was
brought to the attention of the Council by the City Clerk.
Moved by Gordingly, seconded by Newberry, that the same
amount be carried as by the former Chief. Carried, all Council-
men present voting aye.
CITY ENGIIEER IRELAND stated that the Council would
have to appoint an official to sign plans for the Harbor
Drive project. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Newberry,
that Mr. Ireland be authorized to sign the plans.
MR. BEUTHEL was present and outlined the present line
of Harbor Drive through National City.
CASA BOARD. Moved by Christman, seconded by Newberry,
that the Casa Board, lessee, be authorized to remodel the
building subject to the City approval. Carried, all Council-
men present votino aye.
Mayor Fritz requested that the Attorney draw up a
Food Ordinance.
Moved by Gordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the
meeting adjourn until 7:30 o'clock Friday evening June 30,
1944. Carried, all Councilmen present voting ave.
