National City, California, November 28, 1944.
Adjourned meeting of November 21, 1944, of the City Council
called to order by the Mayor. Councilmen present: Christman,
Cordingly, Thatcher, Fritz. Councilmen absent: Newberry.
Mayor Fritz requested that the reading of the minutes of the
regular meeting of November 21st be dispensed with as it was an
adjourned meeting.
Bills audited by the Finance Committee presented:
General Fund $342.46
TOTAL $342.46
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Christman, that the bills be
allowed and warrants ordered drawn for same. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
VCOivT'IUNICATION FROM THE SAN FRANCISCO BRIDGE CO. in regard
to the continuation of the present lease, was read and laid
over until the next regular meeting.
Councilman Newberry present.
CHECK FROM THE FEDERAL WORKS AGENCY for $1,064.75 was pres-
ented and referred to Park Supt. Gautereaux.
✓COMMUNICATION FROM THE DEPARTMEITT OF COMMERCE BUREAU OF
CENSUS, in regard to a City map, was read and referred to
Engineer Ireland.
CONTRACT FROM THE SAN DIEGO GAS & ELECTRIC CO. to furnish
electricty at 8th Street and M Avenue for a period of three
years with a minimum charge of ,$16.75 per month, was read and
referred to Councilman Christman.
✓ REPORT OF AUDITOR HARRY E. BONNELL for the period of the
fiscal year 1943-1944, was presented.Moved by Newberry, seconded
by Thatcher, that the report be accepted. Carried, all Council-
men present voting aye.
Dale Smith was present in regard to bid of IIm. Briggs on
tax deeded property described as follows: E 70' of Lots 18-19-20,
Block 1, * Section 154, 10 Acre Lot 1, Kimball's Sub., for $35.00
per lot. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Thatcher, that the origin-
al bid be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.

MR. WOOD, MANAGER OF THE BLACK AND WHITE CAB CO. OF NATIONAL
CITY was present in regard to a taxi cab ordinance.
Mayor Fritz appointed Councilman Newberry to work with the
Police Committee on a new taxi cab ordinance.
`BUSINESS LICENSE ORDINANCE was presented by the City Clerk.
Moved by Newberry, seconded by Thatcher, that only the heading
of the Ordinance be read. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye.
ORDINANCE NO. 708, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING
OF CERTAIN OCCUPATIONS AND AMUSEMENTS, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
THE VIOLATION THEREOF, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 663, PASSED AND
ADOPTED NOVEMBER 15, 1938, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 600 PASSED
AND ADOPTED APRIL 1, 1930, was read. Moved by Christman, seconded
by Cordingly, that the Ordinance be adopted. Carried, all Council-
men present voting aye.
REQUEST FOR AN OPENING BID FOR A CITY TAX SALE on Lots 17-18-
19,Block 3, Austin Heights, was presented. The Council agreed
that 020.71 will be the opening bid.
✓ JUDGE IRA HARBISON WAS PRESENT IN REGARD TO THE HONOR ROLL
WAR MEMORIAL drive which is about to open, and requested that
a City fund be established for the monies collected.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Newberry that Attorney Ratelle
draw up a Resolution, establishing a War Memorial Fund. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
Councilman Thatcher reported that several complaints had
been received in regard to holes left in the sidewalks where
traffic lights are to be installed. Mayor Fritz referred the
matter to Councilman Cordingly.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
