Councilmen present: Christman, Cordinrly, Newberry, Fritz. CoUnci1:an Thatcher absent. Moved by Christman, seconded by Cordi_ar_ly, that the reading of the minutes of tr_e regular meeting of September 5, 1944, be dispensed with, due to the length of the micuteo and each Council- man having received a copy of same. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Thatcher absent. Evans be `iven a permit to extend the front of his store building; Wn. H. Quigley be given a permit to install and operate a coffee shop in a building at the La Siesta motel. RBSOL 'T _OF NO. 2699 was read, authorizin- the City of National Olt- to join the County Board of Supervisors, to prepare and adopt a plan for the development of a rodern main -highway system for the San Die`o metropolitan area. That this system inclade existinr and proposed main arteries of travel which can be developed into linited-access highways of the freeway type. Moved by Thatcher. seconded by Cordin;ly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 694. Communication from C. W. Vansant, City Tax Collector, in regard to a refund to Yrs. Minnie Tacker on a tax sale for Lot 11, Block 2, 10 Acre Lot 9, i Section 154, Loziers Sub., was read and referred to Attorney Ratelle. .-Request from the National City Scout tasters was made through the City Clerk, for City equipment which includes the Fire Truck and Chief of Police car, to be used in the Scout parade September 23, 1944. Mayor Fritz referred to Councilman Newberry, the sweepinc of rubbish into the streets by the busiress places. ✓ Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Newberry, that a letter of condolence be scnt to Commander Waddell, in regard to the death of Janes E. Waddell, his father, who was a former Councilman. Carried, al] Councilmen present voting aye. ✓Councilman Thatcher brought un the Proposed food ordinance and referred same to Attorney Ratelle. ,i Mayor Fritz apnointed Councilman Christman as chairman of Post War Planning. '-City Clerk annoi.nced the meeting of the County LeaEue of , Municipalities to be held at Felicita Park for a barbeque picnic September 22nd. ✓Garage mechanic Fuson reported the bad condition of the Harley-Davidson motorc-rcle and stated the Police Department had been notified of same. He also stated the abuse of the new Police cars must.stop. !ayor Fritz referred the situation to Councilman) Newberry. ""-RESOLUTTOr ^ 0. 2703 was read, an a-ree-pent between the City of National City and the Federal Works A;enty,*hereby the Agency contributes $32,079.00 to the City for use in the operation of the Federal Recr,ation Puilding from the period of Hay 1, 1343 to June 30, 134 5. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. , ✓Communication from Lt. W. J. Drost was read in regard to a broken water main at 16th Street and Newel]) Avenue. The matter was referred to the California Water and Telephone Co. �Councilman Christman reported tnat the petition for a firms hydrant to be installed in the Olivewood Hous,in„ Unit had been referred to toe Southern California Water and Telephone Co. 697. Mayor Fritz requested Attorney Ratelle to write a letter to the County Board of Supervisors, askins the cancellation of taxes and bonds on Park property. ::roved by Cordincly, seconded by Thatcher, that the neeting adjourn.
