A regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present: Christman, Cordingly, Fritz, Newberry,
Thatcher. Councilmen absent: none.
Administrative officials present- Smith, Finnerty, Lamb, Bird,
Burch, Campbell, Knapp, Ireland, and Gautereaux.
Minutes of the regular meeting of February 19, 1943, read and
approved.

Moved by Christman, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be allowed and
warrants drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on
roll -call. Councilmen

✓0ra1 protest on the kn±taa tax on the trailer at 1317 East 18t
Street. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Cordingly, referred to City
Attorney. Carried, all Councilmei present voting aye. Councilmen absent;
none.
Letter of appreciation from Harlan Skinner, Director of
Instrumental Music Department for the escort protection furnished by
the Police department during their various parades, read and ordered
filed.
Request from the City Clerk for the cancellation of the taxes
on lots 15 and 16, Block 276, City Plat from the current roll asrathe
title stands in the name of the City. Moved by Newberry,seconded by
Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO. 2453 be adopted, authorizing the
cancellation. cartied,all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call.

+Two communications from the Commandaat of theEleventh Naval
District,
one offering $ 18,750 for lot 1, block 135, City Plat and
the other one offering the sum of $ 1.00 for any and all right, title,
estate and interest of the City of San Diego and the City of Bethnal
City in and to any existing or dedicated streets and roads contained
within the boundaires of the property being condemned in this action.

Moved by Newberry, seconded by Christman, that a letter asking for more
information on these offers be sent to the Commandant. Carried, all

d6ounty warrants no. 133681 to 133685 inc., in settlement of
4A county tax sales no. 2326, 2334, 2362, 2369 and 2379, submitted. Moved
5- RESOLUTION NO. 2454 be adopted, accepting
by Christman, seconded by Cordi ngly, that/the warrants kaxazzmn#zd and
that the County be requested to submit informations as to amount of the

liens of the various taxing agencies Agaihst the tax sales. Carried, all
on roll -call.

�ity Attorney Burch reported on the water conferences and that
he will continue to attend.
4 Communication from the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
Co$pany accepting the rental charge of $ 30.00 per vonth in connection
with the relocation of its wye track. Moved by Fritz, seconded by
J Cordingly, that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the lease.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
/Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that the following
delinquent taxes be accepted without the seven percent interest and the
cancellation f ee:
Mrs. Lewis F. Carnell the 1937, 1938 and 1939 taxes on the W 20' and
por of Vac. St Adj lots 1 to 10 inc of Budd Villa Tract
of 10 Acre Lot 6, if a Sec. 152, Nat'l no $ 38.85

Annual report of the Police department for calendar year 1942
submitted. Moved by Newberry, seconded by Christman, that the report be
accepted and copies furnished the Councilmen . Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
Communication from the University of california, Home Food
Production Committee regarding the restrictions for keeping of hens,
rabbits, and goats for the production of food for home consumption, read,

certain information for the Committee on Governmental Efficiency, read.

JF'iae and Theft poTcies on 1941 GMC's, approved as to form by the

City Attorney, presented. Moved by Christman, seconded by Fritz,that
the policies be accepted. Carried]; all Councilmen present voting aye.

/Moved by Christman, seconded -by Newberry, that the City
Attorney give an-tpinion on the ordinances governing wrecking yards by
the next meeting. Carried, gll Councilmen present voting aye. Council-
men absent: none. as
'/Co-ordinantor James Bird recommended thebpurchase of a 1500
tatt generator for $ 300. and also a 75 watt station for a standby
station for the police radios for $ 250, from the 0.C.D. funds. Said
equipment to operate under the direction of O.C.D.office. Moved by
Cordingly, seconded by Christman, Chief Bird be instructed to purchase
this requipment. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -
Call. Councilmen absent: none.
Mayor Thatcher stated that Hap Hoaglan and Vance Clymer are
planning a track maet for High School students and would like to hpve
the approval of the Olympic Contittee on the cost of approximate $ 15.
City Council expressed their approval of the expenditure.
Janes A. Bird, as Property Agent of 0.C.D., reported that 3
pieces of fire apparatus sent by the Federal Government can't be used
because the proper fittings are lacking to adapt them to our equipment.
Being no further business, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Fritz, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
