Chief Air Raid Warden-,C.W.Van Sant present with committee of Air Rakd Wardens in regards to the written communication relative to the fire hazard presented by the heavy growth of weeds in the City. Chief Bird stated that thereis a City Ordinance which governs the removal of weeds. Chief Bird instructed to make a survey of the lots 341 and to start posting of areas to be burned. otice from the United States Engineer Office of the application of Mr. Joseph Schadek, Chula vista, for permission to dredge in San Dieg Bay, read and ordered filed. Communication from the Great American Indemnity Company awarding the Sage Driving Certificates to twelve City Employees, read and Ordered filed. Chief Bird recommended that two oxdinares be adopted amending the plumbing and electrical ordinances and matter referred to the City Attorney. City Clerk Smith submitted a County Check in the anount of $ 555.41 representing the City's share of the County Tax Sale No. 1887. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2343 be adopted, accepting the County check no. 144628 in the amount of 0 555.41 and authorize the proper officers to make the record of same. Statement from the Board of Fire Underwriters by J.T.Silveira, Supt San Diego Branch10ffice of the new rate for fire insurance for the City of National City, read. City Clerk instructed to obtain the rebate on the existing policies on the City buildings. Donnell, City Auditthr, present and requested a meetin: of the City Finance Committee and the Mayor for Thursday morning at 10:00 o'clock am. ✓James A. Bird, Fire Chief, reported verbally for the Traffic Commission and stated that the on the matter of the street lights at new 7th and Arcadia and 12bh and B Avenue, all/installations of street light; are stopped for the duration of the war. B.J.Gautereaux, Park Sup't, stated that he now plans to utilize the present poles in the park to light 12th and B Avenues. /B.J.Gautereaux also requested a statement of policy from the City Council as to lighting the Nite ball grounds, also as to the turging of the diamonds. Instructed to turf the lower end of the grunds. Mr. Gautereaux also stated that the Pool filters need repairing and that he is asking for estimates on the cost. /City Clerk Dale Smith reported no-v answer from Newby and Newby on the new option. ✓Matter of parking in front of the City Hall brought --up by the Chief of Police. Moved by Newberry, s econded by Warner, that RESOLUTION zone to the N line of 13th St NO. 2344 be adopted, designating a no parking/and unloading zone in front of the City Hall, extending 53' North of the N line of 13th street Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roil -call. Councilmen s absent: none, 'City Attorney Campbell introduced Mr. Hobert Burch, Jr., of Bonita who is taking Ashley Johnson's place as Mr. Johnson is now in the Navy. Being no further business, it was moved by Warner,seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, ail Louncilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
