February 10, 1942
Aspecial meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor,on Tuesday, February 10, 1942 at 7:30 pm o'clock of said day.
Satd meeting called pursuant to law and to the call by the Mayor of
the City of National City as shown by the following affidavit:
Councilmen present: Cordingly, Fritz, Newberry, Thatcher. Councilman
Warner: absent.
Communication from Newby and Newby requesting an extension of
ththir option on portion of the tidelands, read. After considerable
discussion, it was moved by Fritz, seconded by Newberry, that Newby
and Newby be notified that the City Council will grant a new option
for 30 days, $ 100.00 payable in advance; Terms of the new option to
be the same as before except that option not binding beyound 30 days
and that an extension will be considered if no other interests
negotiating. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman
Warner absent.
',Notice of condemnation of certain property by the United States
Government near the Destroyer Base submitted. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded bymNewberry, that the City Attorney be instructed to appear
in the action to protect the spur tract franchise and to properly
represent the City. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Councilmen absent: Warner.
Communication from the Commandant, llth Naval District, regarding
a contract for sweeping the streets in the Destroyer Base, read.
Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the matter be referred to
the City Attorney.Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Councilmen absent: Warner.
Communication from the County Grand Jury regarding an ordinance
governing pinball machines and similar games, read. City Clerk
instructed to write to the Grand Jury that the Council does not deem

GENTLEMEN:
Please take notice that a special *sting of the
City Council of the City of National City, California, is
hereby called by the undersigned Mayor of the said City, and
will be held in the Court Room in the City Hall in said City
on Tuesday, the loth day of February, 1942, at 7:30 pm o'clock
of said day.
The purpose of said meeting will be the consideration
of a proposed lease ofa certain portion of the tidelands,( an
extension of an existing ]ease) and such other business as
maybe desired.

going notice and call for a special meeting of said City Counci.

third annual Mayors and Councilmans winter meeting in Fresno, Februar3
14-15, 1942, read. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Newberry that the City
be represented. Carried, all Councilmen present=2voting aye. Council-
men absent: Warner.
/Cit y Assessor Dale Smith requested permission from the City
Council to have the current lot books photographed, following the
procedure of County Assessor Crowell D. Eddy so that in case of
a bombing or fire, a record of the assessed values will be saved; the
cost to be around $ 100.00 Moved by E6rdingly, seconded by Newberry,
that the records be photographed. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye. Councilmen absent: Warner.
Being no further business, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded,by
Newberry, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
