Councilman Warner absent. v'Mr. Johnson of the Kelco Company requested a 60 day extension of the option on portion of the tidelands, same terms as previous option. v/Mr. E.G.Merrill, Jr, Vice -President of the Union Title and Trust Company present in behalf of clients who desire an option on 1000 feet of frontage on the tidelands for 6 months, covering area betw4en the north mole and the south mole not under lease. Matter of options laid over until April 7th, 1941, when they will be considered at an adjourned meeting. {Mr. Alfred Einstein, attorney -at -law, representing the National City Cab Company presented some written suggestions to be considered before the final drafting of taxi -cab ordinance. Matter referred to 199 the Traffic Commission. ✓Mr. Bealle of the applicance firm located at 408 National Avenue requested the removal of the three large palms in front of building. Request referred to the Street Superintendent. 'Complaint on condition at Plumb's Gafage at 19th and Highland Avenue presentedcby property owners in that district. Complaint stated that 19th Street is being used by the garage to park old cars and other materials. Matter referred to the Chief of Police. statement ✓ Upon the of the City Assessor, that improvements had been erronously assessed on the property of James Stevens, Jr., it was f0,5.PLI moved by Fritz, seconded by Ki]c cease, that RESOLUTION NO. 2214, be adppted, granting a refund of $ 18.97 to James Stevens, Jr. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Warner absent. ✓ Petition for street light at llth and Roosevelt referred to the Traffic Commission. ✓Communication from the California State Chamber of Commerce presenting a summary of California's National Defense highway. problems referred to the City Engineer. ►i/ Communication from the Shoreline Planning Ass'n of California, Incorporated regarding certain bills at the present legislative session, read and ordered filed. w' Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that RESOLUTION NO. 2216 be adopted, authorizing the City Clerk in behalf of its Mayor, Frederick J. Thatcher, to contact our representatives in the California Legislature , as recommended by the League of California Cities. Carried, all Councilmencpresent voting aye on roll -call. Coumcilman Warner absent. `7 City Tax Collector -Asa R. Webb filed notice of intention to sell at public auction certain parcels of tax -deeded property. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Fritz, that RESOLUTION NO. 2217 be adopted, approving the sale of the W 40' , ex S 300' of 40 Acre Lot 2, Sec. 132, Nat'l ro. . and Lot 13, Biotic 1 of Kimballs Subd of 10 Acre Lot 2, ; Sec. 154, Nat'l Ro Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Warner absent. ✓ Lease Agreement with Cherry's Service for the rental of one 1941 Ford, deluxe Two -door sedan, presented. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that RESOLUTION NO. 2218 be adopted, authorizing Mayor ;I. Frederick J. Thatcher to sign and execute the lease contract for and on behalf of the City of National City. Carried, all Councilman present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Warner absent. 201 ✓The National City Coordinating Council through its President, B.J.Gautereuax, requested the use of recreational areas and equip- ment by Military Personnel, located outside of City limits. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Kilcrease, that the City Council will - co-operate with the Coordinating Council and offer the use of the area and equipment in conjuction with the local program. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Warner absent. V1N.C.Gower requested a lease on the south mole pier. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that Mr. Gower be requested to file more information regarding the use of the pier before any definite action be taken on the request. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: 'Warner. `Chief Knapp requested the appointment Kenneth Jones as a relief man in the Police department, toserve for 6 months during the 7 vacation period. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Kilcrease and Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO. 2219 be adopted, appointing Kenneth Jones as a relief patrolman. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll - call. Councilmen absent: Warner. Jetty Engineer Ireland presented plan and profile for the improve- ment of Palm Avenue from Division to 4th Street. In conjunction with the improvement of Palm Avenue, it was moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that RESOLUTIO NO. 2220 be adopted, requesting the County of San Diego to deed lots 75 and 77, Block 5, Paradena Park Subd, y to the City of National City. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Warner absent. "City Attorney Johnson instructed to quiet title to lots 75 and 77, Block 5 of Paradena Park Subdivision. ✓Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO. 2221, be adopted, designating',Palm Avenue as a street of Major Importance and requesting the Division of Highways to approve same. Carried, al; Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. (Councilman Warner absent. "City Attorney Johnson reported that the Railraod Commission has taken matter of jurisdiction over spub track running from 8th street to Schieffer Plant, under advisement. City Attorney Johnson reported that the checks for the full 202 amount of taxes and penalties as requested under the quiet title proceedings on Ervast and Heidemark properties has been received and deposited with the City Treasurer. Councilman Kilcrease requested permission of the City Council to leave the State for 15 days. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fritz, that his request be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Warner absent. Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn until 2:30 P.M. Monday, April 7, 1941.
