A regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present: Cordingly, Fritz, Warner, Thatcher.
Councilman Kilcrease 'Absent.
Administrative officials present: Johnson, Smith, Lamb, Knapp,
Ireland, Gautereaux, Finnerty and J. Bird.
Minutes of the regular meeting of April 1 and the adjourned

Moped by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the bills be
allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilcrease absent.
1< Application of Vans's Market for permission to -_ave a Food
Show on their parking lot at 100 E. 8th Street during the opening
of the new market on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd, presented. Moved by
Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the request be granted under
the supervision of the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen Kilcrease absent.
"The recommendation of Mr. Alfred Einstein that the insurance
rate be increased in the new Taxi -cab ordinance was referred to the
Traffic Commission for consideration.

the sale. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call.

presented. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the fee of
2.00 be refunded. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on

„(Notice of completion of Disposal Areas "D" and "E" received
from the United States Engineer Office in Los Angeles. Notice read
and ordered filed.
Moved by Fritz, seconded by Cordingly, that additional
spoil from the seaplane -,basin be requested for area "E". Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Kilcrease absent.
)(Report of the Tax Collector on taxes collected on the current
roll and compared with collections of the same period last year, ,
read and ordered filed.
Notice of the California Sewer Works Assn conference at Santa
Cruz on April 20, 21 and 22 inc., read and ordered filed.
Application of Evert L. Hagan for veterans License presented
by Chief of Police. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that
the application be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye. Councilman Kilcrease absent.
/ Communication from Division of Highways advising the Council
that the cross -hatching of the pedestrian crosswalks will have to be
done by the City from City funds as the Division does not do this
kind of work,read and ordered filed.
.A/Report of the City Planning Commission on the petitions of
Henry C. Plumb and D.L.Crockett for special permits to construct
alternate type dwellings of ov;r 400 ft area, read. Moved by 7
Cordingly, seconded by Frtiz, that the report be accepted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: Kilcrease.
1/Mrs. John B. Johnstone present and protested the building of
the.Plumb houses as they will be in G Avenue.
✓Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO.
2224 be adopted, granting the special permits to Henry D. Plumb and

D.L.Crockett as recommended by the Planning Commission. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilcrease
absent.
✓Chief Knapp reported that Henry C. Plumb will co-operate in
keeping 19th street clear.
Semi -Annual report of the Auditor read and ordered filed.
"City Attorney Johnson reported that he is still in correspondenc
with the Railroad Commission over our spur track.

`/City Attorney Johnson read the Resolution authorizing the option
with the Union Title Insurance and Trust Company on portion of the
tidelands. Moved by Warner, seconded by Fritz, that RESOLUTIOU NO.
2225 be adopted, authorizing the Mayor to enter into the option
in behalf of the City of National City with the Union Title
Insurance and Trust Company. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: Kilcrease:
City Attorney Johnson presented the Resolution authorizing
the option with the Kelco Company. Moved by Warner, seconded by
,c1r Fritz, that RESOLUTION NO. 2226 be adopted, authorizing the Mayor
to enter into the option with the Kelco Company. Carried]; all
Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent:
Kilcrease.
'✓ Moved by Fritz, seconded by Warner, that Assembly bills no.
2103, 1626, 1627 and 501 4c Senate Bill no. 1082 be protested to
our representatives.Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Councilmen absent: none.
✓ Mr. Cautereaux, Park Sup't, requested the Council to grant the
use o' the Tennis Court lights on Friday the 18th to the Recreation
Commission. Moved by Cordiggly, seconded by Warner, that the
request be granted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Councilmen absent: Kilcrease.
✓ Verbal Deport of the Traffic Commission by James Bird, secre-
tary: That the traffic hazard at 8th hnd Highland be reduced by a
no parking zone for 25 feet on Highland, south of 8th street: that
a boulevard stop sign be installed at 24th and D Avenue at D Ave:
that the blind corners due to shrubs and trees be surveyed and
corrected: that Ordinam a 562 be amended designating no parking
areas in front of churches, theatres and places of public gatherings
✓ Sup't of Streets instructed to paint the no parking zone at 8th
and Highland Avenue.
/ Moved by Fritz, seconded by Warner, that the traffic commission
recommendations on the boulevard stop at 24th and D Avenue, the
survey of the blind corners and the no parking areas in front of
places of public gatherings, churchs and theatres, be approved.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.:Councilmen absent:
Kilcrease.

Notice of the League of California Cities, San Diego County
Division meeting at La Mesa presented.
Being no further business, it was moved by Cordinglgr, seconded
by Fritz, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye. Councilmen absent: Bilcrease.
