He stated that his employees are cooperating in keeping the drive clear. Report of the Planning Commission on the petitions of Idr. Roger A. Marley, Mr. W.G.Kraft and Mrs. Sybil Orobona, recommendin the petitions bA denied. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly that:the report be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Marley for permission to build an addition to his present building and over ruling the decision of the Planning Commission. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none. ✓Upon the petition of W.G.Kraft for a permit to build a kitchen and dinette over a present garage ; it was moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2240 be adopted, upholding the decision of the Planning Commission and denying the petition. Notice from the War Department of the application of the Commandant of the llth Naval District for permit to install two mooring: northwest of Municipal Pier No. 1, in San Diego Bay, read and ordered - filed. `'Copy of advertising matter from the San Diego -California Club • read and ordered filed. Notice from the State Compensation Insurance Fund that the City's policy expires July 1, 1941, enclosing a binder policy for 30 days. Moved by Warner, seconded by Fritz, that the policy be renewed. Councilmen absent: none. ✓ Ivioved by darner, seconded by K_ilcrease and Fritz, that RESOLUTION NO. 2243, appointing time and place for hearing protests 0.4.1 and directing Clerk to give notice of said hearing, National City Light Dist. Communication from Harry E. 8onhell, regarding the install- ation of a budgetary control system for the Control ledgers, read. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Warner, that the report be accepted and ordered filed. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none. ✓ Request of Mr and Mrs. Frank Walchel for a refund of money paid for oiling again presented. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by :Kilcreasc, that the matter be laid on the table . Carried, all'Council- men present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none. yr Request of Mrs. Mary Ferguson for permit to move a house into the City of National City ordered filed. ✓ Chief Knapp requested the appointment of Arthur Hokenson as a probationary policeman at the salary of $ 125.O0 per month, retroactiv to June 15, 1941. Moved by Warner, Seconded by Cordingly, that RESOLUTIO, NO. 2244 be adopted, appointing Arthur Hokenson as probationary police- man. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Council- men absent: none. /City Attorney Johnson read the proposed Ordinance governing boulevard stops within the City of National City. Moved by Fritz, seconth by Warner, that the Ordinance be introduced and laid over, under the rule and according to law. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll - call. Councilmen absent: none. )(City Engineer Ireland reported that Grove Avenue, 18th street to 24th Street need s straightening out and tha ti=quiet title proceedings, will be necessary to take out a bad jog at 22nd street. Matter referred to the City Attorney and the City Engineer. `(City Engineer Ireland requested instruction as to the burning 228 of the weeds from the lots. City Council instructed the lots to be burned and the property owners to be billed. Being no further business, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn until 10:00 o'clock AM June 27, 1941. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
