Mayor. Councilmen present: Cordingly, Fritz, Warner, Thatcher. Absent:
none.

Moved by Warner, ,seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be allowed
and warrants drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
WHEREAS, Ood in his infinite wisdom has seen
fit to take from us our friend, Alex Bilcreese,
member of our City Council for eight years, and
WHEREAS, his presence and counsel will be
missed by all his associates
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of National
City does hereby express their sympathy to his
beloved ones in their recent loss and order a
copy of this resolution be bpread upon the
official records of this City.

Upon the report of the\ City Assessor that property assessed
in the name of Adolph Levi and Son had been placed on the inactive
tax roll by error instead of the 1941-1942 roll, it was mowed by
Warner, seconded by Fritz, that RESOLUTION NO. 2285 be adopted,
authorizing tir addition to the 1941-1942 roll of the following
described property: Lot 11, the W 10' of Lot 12, the W 10' of Lot
23, the E 101 of' S 75' of W 15' of Lot 24, Block 12, National City
Plat. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call.
Councilmen absent: none.
The time being eight o'clock the sealed proposals for traffic
signals at 8th and National Avenue, were opened and public declared:

Moved by Warner, s econded by Fritz, t hat the bids be: referred to
Traffic Conmission for study and recommendation. Carried, all Council•
men present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
RESOLUTE ON OF i!&EMORIAN read by the City Clerk, in memory of
Alex Kilcrease, deceased. Moved by Warner, seconded by Fritz, that the,
resolution be adopted, ordered spread upon the minutes of the Council
and one copy sent to Mrs. Kilcrease. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
/ City Attorney Johnson reported that the U.S.Gov't will
lease the park land for five years with option to renew the lease.
Moved by Warner, s econded by Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO. 2286 be
adopted authorizing the Mayor to sign the lease inbehalf of the City.1
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen
absent: none.
City Attorney Johnson recommened the denial of the claim by
Mrs Pollock which was referred to him at last meeting.
✓Attorney Alfred Einstein representing Mr. Patterson who is
exhibiting a, plywood structure called a "Shant-i" and asked the
Council to designate to whom he should speak regarding the building
permit for the structure. Matter referred to the Building Inspector
as the proper - official to contact. Mr. Einstein's class f rom the
Evening High School also present, Mayor Thatcher welcomed the class
and answered a few questions as to the ;City::: government and 1,
procedure. �.

fr/Park Sup't Gautereax reported that the annual operation
report of the City Plunge will be ready by next meeting.
/Sup't Gautereaux stated that it is necessary to consider
a replacement of the filters at the plunge before operations can be
resumed next summer. Also that as the Federal Recreation building
will take the area usually used by the Olympic booths, it will be
nenessary to consider an alternate area for the booths.
"Moved by Fritz, seconded by Warner, that 100 chairs be
purchased for the City. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye
by roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
✓Moved by Frits seconded by Cordingly, that the following
changes in the budget be authorized:
$ 100.00 be added to the Street supplies for the Jr. Traffic crossini
30.00 be transfered from the SRA account to the .Recreation Acct.
Carried, all Councilman present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen
absent: none.
Moved by Fritz, seconded by Warner, that $ 1,500 be set
up for engineering incidentals on the sewer project, to cover
the Koebig and Koebig contract. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner,that RESOLUTION NO.
appointing Raymond Newberry
2287ebe adopted,_ te'' to the City Council to fill the vacancy
caused by the death of Alex Kilcrease, said appointment to be until
the next regular City Election. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
Application of Oscars for a liquor license, approved by
the Chief of Police, ordered filed.
Councilmen Fritz stated that 8th Street needed to be
surfaced. City Engineer Ireland stated that E Sth Street, N Ave to
Sanitarium entrance is to be resurfaced.
dThe matter of the situations between the taxi -cabs and the
street car bus referred to the traffic commission on the motion of
Fritz, seconded by Warner, Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye. Councilmen absent: none.
Being no further business, it was mowed by Cordingly,
seconded by Warner, that the meeting ajourn.'Carried, all Council-
men present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none.
