A regular meeting of the City Council culled to order by the
City Clerk Dale Smith. Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease,
Thatcher, Warner, Mayor Bird Absent.
`Moved by Kilcrease, seconaed by Warner ana Coraingly, that
F.J.Thatcher be a:pointed acting -Mayor. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye. Councilman Bira absent.

for transfer of liquor licenses from Games Ronis to Geo. Ronis, read
and referred to the Chief of Police.
r Communication from the Union Title Insur£nce and Trust Company
regarding the issuance of a Certificate of Lelinquent Tax on_Lotsor:
35 and 36, Block 3, of Homecrest "A", read and referred tc the City
Attorney.
Moved by Cordingly, seconaed by Kilcrease, that the delinquent
taxestlisted on Page 112i in the amount of $ 122.43 be accepted without

the seven precent interest and the cancellation fee. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Bird absent.
./Check fromrW.E.Starke for payment of taxes under redemption by
tax -sale without the seven percent interest ana the cancellation fee
submitted. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Clerk
be instructed to notify Mr. Starke that the City Council will not accept
payment of delinquent taxes under tax -sale without the seven percent
interest ana the cancellation fee. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye. Councilman Bira absent.
Request of the Pentecostal Tabernacle of Natio al City for
permission to hold a series of tent meetings beginning August 4th and
continueing for a perioa of not more than four week, read. Moved by
Warner, seconded by Coraingly, that the permit be granted unaer the

/Communication from the San Diego Federal Savings and Loan Ass'm
enclosing a Quit Claim deed to Lots 5 to 10 inclusive in Block 47 of
City Plat, read and referred to the City Attorney.

Theft policy on 1936 Dodge Express, be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye. Councilmen absent: Bird.
/Communication from the State Compensation Insurance Fund regarding
the re-employment of Harry McCue, read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Kilcrease, that the matter be referred to the City Attorney. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: Bird.
/ Special Bulletin relating to National Defense from the League of
California Cities, read and ordered filed.
Report of the Census Bureaus read and laid over.
/Survey of street lights prepared by the Traffic Commission laid
over until the budget meeting.
Moved by Warner, seconaed by Kilcrease, that RESOLUTION NO. 2420
confirming the assignment of security from Webb Bros to the United States
a
National Bank on the catract for the Allis-Chalmers tractor and the Hough
Hydraulic Loader, be adoptea. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye,
on roll -call. Councilmen absent:, Bird.
/ Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrez.ae, that RESOLUTION NO.
2421, authorizing Mayor Bird to represent the City of National .City in
all matters pertaining to the Harbor deveolpment and authorizing him to
sign such agreementias necessary in behalf of the City of National City
ana confirming such agreements ana acts that have been glade prior to the
adoption of this Resolution, be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: Bird.
Councilman F.J.Thatcher requested permission to be absent from the
State for e period of two months. Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease,
that his request be granted. serried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Councilmen absent: Bird.
i Chief of Police Knapp reported that he has no objection to the

the transfer of liquor license from James Ronis to George Ronis.
4oved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the sum of $ 500.0
be transfered from the Gen-ral Fund to the Library Fuhd. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: Bird.
Moved by [increase, seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting
adjourn until Tuesday evening July 23, 1940 at 7:30 P.M. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absetn: Bird.
