As there was nol.reconnnend- ation by the Building Inspector, the connunication was filed. Request from Lucas Marin for permission to install gasoline pumps on the Northwest corner of W.17th St and McKinley Avenue, read. Moved by Cordingly, seconder? by Earner, that his request be granted under the supervision of the Fire Marshall. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen. absent: none. "Letter of recommendation from Fire Chief Bird, for the appoint- ment of Walter Towsley as Fireman. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that RESOLTJTION ITC. 2093 appointing Walter Towsley as Fireman on the National City Fire department at the salary: of iF 125.00 per month, effective May 15, 1940, be ad:pted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on ro 1-call. Councilmen absent: none. / Communication from the State Compensation Insurance Fund, together 5c th a record of accident costs durin_ the la st renium rear, stating that no dividend is allowed to National City due to the accident cost. Cor;runication ordered filed. ✓Report of the City Planning Commission of the action t aken on the petition of the Pyramid Research Engineers. John Hettich spoke in behalf of the mining operations in the back country, stating that the County needs a snelter for this industry so that the costs of operations could be lowered. City Attorney that no action neede to be taken by the Council on this report. Communication ordered filed. 85 1 ✓ Report of the City Planning Commission on the petition of Mr. P.L.Rarland for a special permit to construct a 16 x 30 feet poultry house on the rear of Lot 267, Lincoln Peres Annex Ho. 2 and upon the petition of Metropolitan Securities Company for a special permit to build an addition of alternate type oonstruction to a dwelling on Lot B, Block 2, Lincoln Acres orchard Subdivision. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Ki]c rease, that a rental agreement be drawn as of Jule- 1, 1940, at for 12 months montb17 paynents not to e::cecd " 220.00 each/and authorizing the Mayor to sicn same. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roil -call. Councilmen absent: none /John Cole, County Road Superintendent, nr sent and offered the assistance of the County in iproving streets vritilin the City limits. 4.C.Zuchweiler, Chief of Sanitation, San Die„o County health Department, pre sent and outlined the propose: plan for nosquitoe contro within the City. His plan is to have a project using 50 men from the C.0.C.Ca'Rp I°innew ;'a for dre'nage construction in the sloughs, with the alternative plan of using: S.R.i.labor. ao9S mo-ed by Thatcher, seconded by 'Varner, that RESOLUTIOir fO. 2095 granting a refund to Mrs. Pearl Aslin of taxes paid on improvements erroneously assessed, be adopted. Lease Agreement for two 1940 Two -door Ford Sedans presented by Mr. Campbell. Moved by Warner, seconded b' Cordingly, that the Mayor be authorized to sign the lease 'agreement. Councilmen absent: none. / Mayor Bird reported that the California Highway Cornission had acknowledged the receipt of the invitation to hold their July meeting in National City and that the matter would be presented at the next meeting of the Cermission for decision. Jupon the request of City Treasurer Asa R. Webb, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by darner, that a duplicate receipt fdr payment of delinquent tax he issued to Margaret Noble for the 1936 tax on the S 55' of N 330' of W 410' of N-I' of E- of 80 Acre Lot 2 of Quarter Section 128 of Rancho de la Nacion; said receipt to be based on figures as of Nov. 30, 1937. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none. Being no iiirth_r business, it was moved by uiarner, seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn.
