Councilmen present: Coraingly, Kilcrease, Warner, Bird. Councilmen absent: Thatcher. Administrative officials present: Smith, Campbell, Ireland, Gautereaux, Lamb, Biro. /City Clerk reported that the Peralta property has not been deeded to the City for taxes and recommended that the sale in the County be allowed with no protest. /City Attorney Campbell preamctea written opinion ana citation of authority of the City Council to bind the municipality to respond in damages, if any, arising from the tortuous acts of a thud party, or to contract to indemnify the United States for such damages, resulting from the filling of private or public property within the bounaaries of the disposal areas in connection with the dredging of the harbor. Copy of opinion and citation of authority to be sent to the United States Enginners office in Los Angeles for incorporat]on with Resolution No. 2090. /City Clerk reported that the check of W.E.Starlpe has been returned to him with estimate to redeem property. itity Attorney Campbell autnorized to negotiate for quieting title to property south of Park area. /City Attorney Campbell reported that in the opinion of the Doctors, that Harry McCue is ready to return to work but not as a patrolman. Matter laid over. 'Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease; that RESOLUTION NO. be adopted, 2$22` authorizing the Mayor to sign a contract in behalf of the City for carnival equipment in the City Park on Olympic Day, the form and substance of the contract to be approved by the City Attorney. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman absent: Thatcher. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the following delinquent taxes be accepted without the seven percent interest and the cancellation fee: /H.N.Hess the 1939 taxes on Lot 292 of Lincoln Acres Annex No. 2, o Sec.',107, Nat'l Ro $ 2.71 14> Bryce Slain the 1939 taxes on the W 57( of Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10 of Block 4 of Wilburs Subd., 20 Acre Lot 4, < Sec. 133, N:t'1 Ro $ 5.70 William Fraizer the 1939 taxes on Lots 1 to 10 inc. por. vac. sts and alleys of Block 4 of Kimballs subd of 10 Acre Lot 8, t Sec. 153, Nat'l Ro.$ 28.44 Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: Thatcher. / Copy of letter from the Board of Supervisiors to the County Auditor authorizing the cancellation of the County 1940-1941 taxes on Lots 16 to 20 inc., Block 1 of D.E.Loziers Sub of Wi of 10 Acre Lot 10, a Sec. 154, Nat'l Ro.... read ana ordered filed. /Request of the Pyramid Engineers by Mr. Appleby for a refund of license fee and special zoning permit fee read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that inasmuch asthe license was issuea for business which needed no special permit and that two hearings had been held on the zone variance, that the request for refund be denied end that Mr.Appleby be so informea. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen absent: Thatcher. ,j Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Bird, it was moved by Warner seconded by Kilcrease, that a fire plug be installed on East 8th Street b y the Paradise Valley Sanitarium, the exact location to be determined by the Fire Chief. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.on,roll=71,.-1 call.:-Councilmen.absent: Thatcher. Being no further business, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting aajourn.
