Mr. McLauchla present and spoke in behalf of his petition which was ordered filed for future action. Notification of Liquor license application of Arthur G. Evenson presented.aChief Knapp stated no objections. Application ordered filed. Communication from the Board of Trustees, National City Library, requesting the appointment of Mrs. Henry Wilson to the Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. Darsie Anderson. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Kilerease, absent. ' Notice of application for auction on certain tax -deeded properties presented by Tax Collector Asa R. Webb. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2140, authorizing an auction sale of Lot 6, Block 241, City Plat and Lots II and 10 Block 242, City Plat, be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilerease absent. Official notice Kt from the County of San Diego of application no. 1175 to purchase tax deeded real property at public auction and request that auction be held on Lot 6, Block 2 41, City Plat. MOVEd by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2141 protesting the sale in the County unless the lien of the City of National City is paid in full., be adopted. Carried, all Council- men present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilcrease absent. • Communication from the San Diego -California Club regarding the type of publicity and advertisment prepared by the Club, read and ordered filed. • Communication from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Washington, D.C. regarding the administration of the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935, ordered filed. Memorandum of Agreement with the State Division of Highways for the expenditure of the 2nd quarter cent gas tax monies, read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO. 2142 approving same, be adopted. Carried,a 11 Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilcrease absent. The time being eight o'clock, the opening and examining of sealed bids for the National City Lighting bistrict No. 1, was in order. Bid of San Diego Consolidated Gas and Elec. Company for $ 825.00 opened. As there werernotother bids, it was moved by 9-`43Thatcher, seconded by Warner and Cordingly, that RESOLUTION NO. 2143 awarding the contract to the San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Company, be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilcrease absent. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2144 , retaining the services of Meddeth L. Campbell as City Attorney, end authorizing the Mayor to execute the contract in behalf of the City, be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilman Kilcrease absent. Mr. Harry Goldfarb presented a petition to close the alley in block4 of the National City Plat. Matter referred to the Planning Commission. B.J.Gautereaux requested permission to change the electric current in the Shuffleboard Clubhouse, installing gas meters for heating and cooking, not to exceed $ 35.00 for installation.Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the expenditure be authorized Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Kilcrease absent. "Councilman Cordingly requested that C.B.Ireland be released from the supervision of the Street department during the develop- ment of the water front and harbor. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by l0 r Warner, that 'Mr. Ireland be relieved of the street department supervision. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilman Kilereaee absent. ''City Engineer Ireland reported on the consultation with Glenn wick, City of San "sego Planning Engineer and Geo. Bewail, County Planning Consultant, regarding the planning of the tidelands and harbor drive. Mr. Ireland submitted maps and diagrams. Discussion of the lease agreement with the San Francisco Bridge Company. Matter of two points to be straightened out with the attorneys for the dredging Company. City Attorney Campbell instructed to confer with them, submitting the revised agreement at the next Council meeting. Mr. Muhs of the San Francisco Bridge Company extended an invitation to the City Council to visit the dredging operations, leaving the dock at three o'clock, Friday the 4th of October. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the meeting adjourn until 7:30 P.M. on the 8th of October, 1940.
