Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees called to
order by the President. Trustees present,- Cordingly,
Snook, Weisser, Crandall and Hertel.
Minutes of regular meeting of July 2 and adjourned
meeting of July 8, 1919 read and approved.
The following bills, audited by a majority of the
Finance Committee presented.

Moved by Crandall, seconded by Snook that bills
be allowed and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried
all Trustees present voting aye.
Protest of citizens against eliminating the nightwatch-
man after midnight, was read and laid over.
•Resignation of P. H. Evans, City Marshal, was read.
Moved by Crandall, seconded by Snook that the resignation
be accepted. .Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
The City attorney presented copy of a letter written
to the National Septic Process Protective League.
Communication from the Automobile Club of Southern
California, relative to signs required under the 1919
amendment to the California Vehicle Act, also Resolution
regarding erection of same, was read. Moved by Crandall,
✓ seconded by Cordingly that Resolution No. 567, authoriting
the Chairman of the Board of Trustees to execute a con-
tract on behalf of the City of National City with the
Automobile Club of Southern California for the performance

of the necessary work and the furnishing of all materials
for the erection of signs required in subdivisions 8 and 6
of Section 1 of the California Vehicle Act as amended by
Chapter 147 in the Statutes of 1919, be adopted. Carried,
all Trustees present voting aye.
, Moved by Weisser, seconded by Crandall, that the
City clerk be instructed to communicate with the Automobile
Club of Southern California, regarding signs for directing
parties to points of interest. Carried.
. Quarterly Reports of the City Clerk, City Treasurer
and Fire Chief and annual report of the City Clerk, pre-
sented, and ordered filed.
, Moved by Weisser, seconded by Cordingly, that the
City Clerk be instructed to have annual report published.
Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
. Ordinance No. 490, amending Sections 2 and 6 of
Ordinance No. 484, Fixing the Compensation of City Marshal
and City Attorney, placed on final passage, and on motion
by Crandall, seconded by Cordingly, same adopted by the
following vote: Ayes,- Trustees Snook, Cordingly, Crandall
and Hertel. Nays,- Trustee Weisser.
.Moved by Crandall, seconded by Cordingly, that
Edward Morley Wright be appointed City Marshal to take
effect on the filing and approval of Bond by the Board
of Trustees, Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
Moved by Weisser, seconded by Crandall that the
Street Superintendent be instructed to build box for
holding life preserver. Carried, all Trustees present voting
aye,
✓.Resolution No. 568, Ordering the Closing up of a
part of the alley in Block_1, Coombes Place Addition, was
read. Moved by Crandall, seconded by Weisser that Resolution
be adopted. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.

Moved by Snook, seconded by Weisser, that the
Board adjourn to Thursday, July 17th, 1919 at 7:00
o'clock P. M. Carried.

Bond of Edward Morley Wright, City Marshal, was presented.
Moved by Crandall, seconded by Cordingly that the Bond bf City
Marshal Edward Morley Wright be approved. Carried, all Trustees
present voting aye.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Crandall that Board
adjourn. Carried.
