Regular meeting of.the Board Of Trustees called to order
by the President. Trustees present, -!vane, Cordingly, Weisser,
Crandall and Howard.
Minutes of regular meeting of Feb. 5, 1918 read,corrected
and approved.
The following bills, audited by the Finance Committee
presented. Moved by Weisser, seconded by Crandall that bills
be allowed and warrants ordered drawn for the same. Carried,
all Trustees present voting aye.

Mr. Wm. Franke was present and requested permission to
top trees around his property.
The President of the Board appointed the following Trustees
as a committee to investigate the matter of removing and trim-
ming trees: Trustees Rvans, Crandall and Howard.
Mrs. McDougal requested rermission to remove trees adjoin-
ing property at loth Street and Second Avenue.
Mrs. Mary C. Foss petitioned to remove trees on 7th Street
and Highland avenue.
Mrs. Bragg and A.V.Bragg requested permission to top trees
adjoining their property at 16th Street and J. Avenue.
Mrs. Mae Waller petitioned to remove trees on 24th Street
from the Olivewood Club House to Highland Avenue.
Jr. F. Salazar requested permission to top trees at 3rd
Avenue and 18th Street.
Moved by F.vans, seconded by Crandall that the petitions be
referred to the tree committee with power to act. Carried,
all Trustees present voting aye.

Notice that hearing of the application of the Sweetwater
Water Co for an increase in rentals had been set for Wednesday,
February 20th, 1918 at 10 O'clock A.M. in the Federal Court
Building, San Diego, was read. City Attorney was instructed
to appear on behalf of the City.
Communication from Mrs. John Burnham, ghairman of the Nat-
ional Branch of the Red Cross, asking for an appropriation to
purchase a service Flag to be hung across the Street at 8th
and National avenue was read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Crandall that the City Clerk be instructed to purchase a service
Flag at a cost not to exceed $25.00 to be hung across 8th Street
at National Avenue and bear a star for each man in service from
National City, Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Fvans that the City Attorney
be instructed to prepare an ordinance amending the salary
Ordinance, raising the salary of the City ^.lark from $75.00 to
$100.00. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
The City Engineer submitted plane for a bridge at Highland
avenue, also on 24th Street. Moved by Crandall, seconded by
Evans, that the City Clerk be instructed and he is hereby in-
structed to advertise for bids as reeuired by law, in the Nat-
ional City Ne*s, for the alteration and repair of the existing
bridge across Sweetwater River on Highland Avenue and the making
of fills at each end thereof, and the construction of bulk heads
and retaining and wing walls, all according to the plans and
specifications therefor, prepared by the City Pngineer and on
file in his office. Carried, all Trustees present voting aye.
The committee appointed to prepare plans for the improve-
ment of the Sweetwater Road reported road in good condition and
suggested certain changes.
Moved by rvans, seconded by Crandall that Board adjourn.
Carried.
