A regular meeting of the City Council called to order by the
Mayor. Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner,
Bird. Councilmen absent: none.
Minutes of the previous meeting of January 17, 1939, read
and approved.

Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the bills be
allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
Mr. Pfeil of Paradise Valley present and rdquested that the
City release jurisdiction_ -to County for flood oontrol of Paradise
Creek. Matter referred to the City Attorney and the City Engineer.
✓ Fred Erb present and requested that the City cut down the
trees on the alley between 4th and 5th Streets, east of D Avenue.
Matter referred to Mr. Ireland.
✓ Petition of licensed plasterers to have Sections 4273 and 4724
of the City of San' Diego Plastering Code, adopted by the City of
National City and included in the City plastering code, presen'ed.
City Attorney Campbell read the two sections. Matter referred to
the City Attorney and the Building Inspector.

' Upon the recommendation of City Engineer Ireland, it was
2-° moved by Thatcher, secondel by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2015
accepting the deed of Ida V. Adams, formerly I.V.Cantwell acid the
deed of B.C.Harrison and Nellie M. Harrison, husband and wife and
L.3.Harrison, a single man, for certain properties be used for the
continuation of Pleasant Lane and Seventh Street, be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent:
none.
Communication from Cosgrove and O'Neil,attorneys, relative to
Application No. 8833 of the California Water and Telephone Company
before the Department of Natural Resources, read and referred to
the City Attorney.
Innual report of the Fire Marshal's office, read and ordered
file'.
✓ Communication from the United Stated Engineers Office
regarding the modification of harbor lines in San Diego Bay, referred
to the City Engineer.
Communication from the National. Rivers and Harbors Congress,
Washington, D.C., read and ordered filed.
iCommunication from Mrs. M.H.Tinkler, 2905 National Avenue,

regarding the opening of 29th Street, east of National Avenue to
C Avenue, read and ordered filed.
/ Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the Hartford
Fire and Theft policy for the 1938 Ford V8, be accepted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
'Notification from the State Board of Equalization of liquor
license application of Clarence H. Sellers,Ralph W. Chapman and
James Ronis, ordered filed.
dCommunication from E.B.Moritz Foundry, manufacturers of
"School Girl" traffic signs, read and ordered filed.
,Application of J.D.Lynch of E19ajon for an exempt license,
presented. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the license
be granted providing the applicant shows pension:affidavits=for
disabled veteran. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.

delinquent tax be accepted without the seven percent interest and
the cancellation fee:

Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Eilcrease, that a street light
be installed on the first pole south of Eighth Street on Pleasant

Lane. Carrie', all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call.
Councilmen absent: none.
/ Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that RESOLUTION
NO. 2016, granting a refund of $ 1.01 to Hans Norgaard due to an
error in computing the amount of exemption allowed under his
veterans claim. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.on
roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
/ Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that cash be paid
for the rebuilt typewriter for the Police department. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent:
none.
Being no further business, it was moved by Warner, seconded
by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
