A regular meeting of the City Council called to order by
the Mayor. Councilmen present: Cor&ingly, Y._lcrease, Thatcher,
Warner, Bird. Councilmen absent : none.
Minutes of the previous meeting of January 3, 1939 read.
The following paragraph ordered stricken from the minutes:
" Proposals having been called in for gasoline for the year

-Mr. Wells of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Federal
Projects Committee pr sent and intteduoed Captain Ma Landless,
Commandunt of the U.S.Destroyer Ease who spoke regarding the
proposed extension of the Ease into the City of National City
tidelands. The meeting 'was opened for general discussion.
'dosed by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that RESOLUTION
?i0. 2014, expressing 8 willingness to co-operate ,%ith the United
States Povernmenit for the improvement of certain National City
tidelands, be acopted. Carried, all Councilmen present votin; aye.
Councilmen absent, none.
A communication from the San Lnego-California Club thanking
the City Council for theft pledge of support, read end ordered
filed.
Request of the Municipal Employees Association for the
appointment of one member of the City Council to act in an
advisory ca)scity in conjunction with the Cormittee on. Civil
Service of he Association, read. Mayor Bird appointed all five
members of the Ci-y Council to act with tne employees.

—Letter of transmittal of the annual report of the
Railroad Commission of the State of California from July 1, 1937

by Cordin:ly, seconded by Thatcher, that e fire hicrant be i
installed at 18th and E Street; thct the building cepertment
purchase a filing cabinet and that the Fire Chief nurchase 500
feet of 2 ? h mine: Carried, all Councilmen present voting Eye
on roll -call. Councilmen absent -none;.
City Park Superintendent Gautereaux reported that the
club -house for the Shuffleboard Courts is completed
