•Report of the City Planning Com-ii ,si on recommending that the map
be accepted. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that
RESOLTION ,O 2041, approving the decision of the Planning
OF;
Corrnis slop and accepting the map of "HIGHLAND PLACE" be adopted.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen
absent: none.
• Report of the City Planning Commission recorrrne ndint, that the
petition of Mrs. Betty Edelen to operate a stand for selling
sandwiches, pies, coffee and soft drLnks on her property near 21st
and National Avenue, be gr•-rated. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Ararner, Lhat the City Council approve the petition of Mrs. Edelen
as recommended by the Planning Commission.Carried, all Councilmen
present voting ave. Councilmen absent: none.
• Report of the City Engineer that Lhe mapinp and calculations
of areas and ties am the tide lands of National City have been
completed, read and ordered filed.
113ESOLUTIO'' NO. 2042 AUT`NORIzing the cancellation of Warrant
No. 25612 and warrant Po. 25629 together with the consent of the
City Attorney, read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher,
that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
. Application of Frederick H. Jensen to operate a card roorn at
# 10 West 3th Street, read and referred to the Chief of Police.•
• Notice of approval by the Division of Highways of two
additional Streets of Major Importance- Taft Avenue from 13th St
to South City Limits end 13th Street from Taft Avenue to Highland
Avenue and from arnnrrer Avenue to East City limits, read and ordered
filed.
• Request from the -arks Progress Administr-tion For the City
to assume the payment of the costs of the power contract 1 or
electricity furnished to the sewing machines at the local sewing
project, read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the
City assume this obligation. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen Cordingly, kilorease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Hayes: Councilmen none.

Communication from the National City Library Board requesting
the re -appointment of Mrs. Charles Short and Mr. Fred Tonge as
menbers of tne Board. Moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that the
request be granted nncl the appointments made. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting ave. Councilmen absent: none.
' Communication from the National City Democratic Club requesting
by Resolution that Lne Mayor and City Council proclaim a day for
the annual observance of Citizenship Day, read and lard over until
the next meeting.
'Llatter of a new Police car up for consideration. Proposal of
Southland Totors for new Studeb^ker and the eroposal of Cherry's
Service for a ne•r Ford V8 both considered. Moved by Warner,
seconded by Cordingly, that HESOIUTION NO. 2044, authorizing the
Mayor to enter into a lease agreement with CherryQs Service for the
rental of one new Ford V8, be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting; aye on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
, City Attorney Campbell presented an Ordinance amending Ord.
532 of the Ordinances of the City of ilat_onal City regarding the
removal of trees iron the parkways witnin the City. After the first
reacting, it was moved by K lerease, seconded by Cordingly, , that
the Ordinance be intw'oduced and lsid over, under the rules and
according, to lawn. Carried, all Councilmen present 1 oting aye.

policy on the Studenaker Champion Club Sedan, serial No. G-801098,
be accepted. Carried, al] Councilmen present voting aye: Councilmen

'Communication from Senator Ed Fletcher regarding AB 1057-58-59
referred to the Municipal Employees Assn.
City Engineer Ireland reported that the sewer rods are in bad
condition and aske 1 nern _ssion to purchase new rods. Request granted.
Department heads requested to submit tentative budgets by
next meeting.
