A regular meeting of the -City Council called to order by
the Vice -Mayor F:J.Thatcher. Councilmen present: Cordingly,
Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner. Mayor Bifd absent.
Administrative officials present: Ireland, Smith, Campbell,
Knapp, Webb, Gautereaux, Lamb.
Minutes of the previous meeting of November 8th, 1939, read
and approved.
Mayor Bird arrived during the reading of the minutes.

Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be
allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
✓ Petition for the improvement of McKinley Avenue north of 8th
Street to Division Street presented. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by
Cordingly, that the petition be referred to the City Engineer for
estimates. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Councilmen
absent: none.
Mr. A.R.Bell and Mr. Frank Chase present in behalf' of the
resident plumbers, requesting that the annual license fee be
raised to Fifty dollars per annum with the regairenents of a local
place of business. -After considerable discussion, it was moved by

that the matter be referred to
a committee of four for consideration. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye. Councilmen absent: none. Mayor Bird appointed
the following committee: Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher,

/ Fred Erb present regarding the payment of his delinquent
taxes. Mayor Bird explained the plan followed by the City for the
redemption of delinquent City Taxes.

that ORDINANCE NO. 668, be adopted. Carried, ell Councilmen present

,Report of the Planning Commission on thepetition of the National
School District for the closing of Coolidge Avenue andthe alley in
Block 110, between 18th end 19th street, reed and ordered filed.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 2075
grenting the petition providing the School District bay the costs.
Upon furthr,r consideration, Councilmen Thatcher withdrew his motion
with the consent of the second andthe matter was laid over.
City Engineer Ireland reported that he hed talked with yr.
Beuthel of the Division of Highways on the matter of the City
adopting an ordinance on the marking of the traffic stripes es they
had requested, and that the State would like all Cities to adopt
standard markings for ell City streets. Metter referred to the
City Attorney for preparation.
/ City Attorney Campbell stated that the 20 Mile an hour signs
on National Avenue should be teken down es the Stete law iSInow 25
miles an hour in th, business cistrict. Matter referred to the
City Engineer.
J Petition to change the zone on National Avenue from 24th to
30th streets from a residential to business zone reed andreferred to
the Planning Commission.

Moved by KiIcrease, seconded by Cordingly, thet "ESOLUTION NO.
2Q75 authorizing the cancellation of a double assessment on the
1939-40 tax roll, assessed to H. Barlow end a refund of $ 1.69
to Walter L. Cummings on a improvement erroneously 'raised from $ *50.00
to 5 050.00, be adopted. Carried, ell Councilmen present voting aye
on roll -call. Councilmen absent: none.
