A regular meeting of the City Council called to order
by the Mayor. Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,
Warner, Bird. Councilmen absent: none.
Minutes of the regular meeting of March 16, 1937, read and
approved.

Moved by 'ilcrease, seconded by Cordingly,that the bills be
allowed and warrants drawn for some. Carried, by the following
vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingiy, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird.
Hayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: none.

Harold Rgqua, Jr. and "Hap" Hoaglan present and requested
the use of the ball park for the Soft Ball League on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday nights. Matter referred to the Commissioner of
Parks and Playgrounds and Superintendent Gautereaux.
i Ben Sturdevant of the Chamber of Commerce present regarding
the status of the City in regards to the WPA sewing project.Although
no official action was taken, it was finally agreed that the City
would paytthe rent for the project,if found necessary.
Pdr. A.E.Roberts,pAgenttfor Ruth M. Jones of Los Angeles, present
and requested the cancellation of 7% interest and cancellation fee
on delinquent tax on Lots 13-14-15, block 146, City Plat. Granted.
Resolution to be prepared for cancellation.
./Report of Asa R. Webb, City Tax Collector, on taxes collected
to date and submitting a comparative statement of taxes collected
last year.
The hour being eight o'clock P.M. Pacific Standard Time, the
time for submitting sealed 71ids for the bonds for the construction of
the City 'all declared closed. The following bid for the City Hall
construction bonds was opened, examined and nublically declared :

STILLER, BALL and COMPANY and TEE UNITED STATES NATIONAL BANK of
SAN DIEGO, joint bid for the y 20,000 issue of ten year coupon
bonds bearing interest of 4tio per annum. Bid was for par value and
accrued interest todate of delivery plus a premium of $ 51.00. A
check of $ 2,100.00 accompanied the bid.

NO. 1871, accepting bid of MILLER, HALL AND COMPANY AND THE UNITED
STA`II'S NATIONAL BANK OF SAN DIEGO for the City Hall construction
bonds, be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: none.
Communication from California Sewage Corks Ass'n inviting
the City Council to attend the Ninth Spring Conference, read and
ordered filed.

✓ Communication from Aber and Rutherford requesting the
City Engineer to establish grades for sidegalk and curbs on
south side of 26th street between "D" Ave and"F" Ave. Moved by
Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that his request be granted, and
that the request of the Paradise Valley Sanitarium and John
Garnder for grades for sidewalks and curbs be granted also. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting -aye.
/M.atter of the extension of Division Street west of National
Avenue up for discussion. Dale Smith, instructed to ascertain the

Mayor Bird announced that National City would be host to
the San Diego County League of California Municipalities on May
7, 1937.
/Chief Knapp submitted a letter coveringdlease rentals for

three new Ford V8 prowl cars. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly,
that -RESOLUTION NO. 1872, authorising the Mayor to enter into a
rental contract with the National City Motor Company for the three
cars, be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: none.
✓nag' ✓RESOLUTION N0. 1870, appointing John E. Owen as radio
patrolman, read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the
Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly,Kilcrtase,Thatcher,Warner,Bird.

Absent: none.
/Commmunication from Senator Ed. Fletcher, regarding Senate
bill No. 849, adding Section to an act empowe.ing cities of 6th
class to contract for the furnishing to such cities of special
services in Financial, economic or other matters. Ordered filed.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the following
transfers be authorized:
r $ 208.80 from the Sp.Gas Tax St Imp Fund to St Imp rund.
j $ 3.016.39 from the Sp. Del. Tax Fund to the General Fund.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.

Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that RESOLUTION NO. 1873

authorizing the City Attorney to defend the action . Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
1 Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly and Warner, that
the Department heads be instructed to submit an inventory of their
department as of June 30, 1937. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
Being no further business, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded
by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
