Minutes of the previous and approved. Bills audited by General payroll Street Dept. " present: Cordingly, Kilcrease, meeting of July 20, 1937, read the Finance Committee Library expenditures General Payment- City Hall- as par contract presented: $ 2,295.75 510.00 418.50 2,476.49 5.400.00 $ 11,100.74 Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the bills be allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Napes: Councilmen; none. Absent: none. /Application of E.D.Ludwick for position of and ordered filed. ,Petition of residents of Paradena Park for Warner, Bird. Janitor read fire hydrant at intersection of Norton Avenue and 4th Street, read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the Fire Chief be instructed to make a survey of the district. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ✓Communication from the Division of Highways enclosing a letter of recommendation from the Deputy Director of Public Works for two new Streets of Major Importance- Taft Avenue from 8th st to 13th st and West 8th St from Roosevelt to Railroad- read and ordered filed. / Communication from the Division of Labor Statistics and Law Enforeement regarding the prevailing labor laws read and ordered filed. 1 Moved by Kilcrease, seoonded by Cordingly, that the City Clerk's request for a new Delinquent Assessment Roll index be granted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: �y Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. ,Communication from H.A.Cameron Company, Insurance, regarding damage to Car # E 23050 by wheel from truck owned by George Styliano and requesting the Release and Statement of Facts be signed. Moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that RESOLUTION NO. 1898, authorizini the Mayor to sign the release and statement of facts, be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. Annual Report of Floyd Finnerty to the Division of Highways for maintenance of Streets of•ajor Importance and Sweeping of State Highway 101 for year 1936-37, read and ordered filed. Tabulation of the apportionlment of the * cent gas tax funds to Cities by the Department of Public Works, read and ordered filed. 'Report of the City Court for the month 6f July, 1937, read and ordered filed. Report of the San Diego County Health Department of the water sample from the swimming pool, read and ordered filed. Communication from the Division of Highways regarding the prevailing wage scale in this community for construction of public works, read and ordered filed. The request of the Casa de Salud for alterations in present City Hall Bldg.read._Floor plans of changes discussed and matter referred to the Custodian of Public Buildings, Mr. Finnerty. The hour being eight O'clock, the Mayor declared the hearing of protests on the National City Lighting District No. 1, in session. No protests being entered, RESOLUTION NO. 1899, approving of the diagram and assessments as submitted by the City Engineer, read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nayes: "ouncilmen, none. Absent: none. -RESOLUTION NO. 1900, ordering Improvement, Lighting Listrict No. 1, read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Resolution b e adopted. Carried, by the fb llowing vote to -wit: 98 Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. Mr. Fields, of the Federal Arts Project, presented models of the City Hall and the Court room and suggested several decorations for same. After some discussion it was decided that the Finance Committee be instructed to confer with Mr. Fields regarding same. /Notice of the meeting of the Board of Equalization on August 9-10-and llth from ten o'clock to noon, announced by the Clerk of the Board. - Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the City's Representative for the construction of the new City Nall be instructed to authorize certain changes to be made in the windows and the front column in the new building. Carried, by the following vote -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, 0ordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. 'City Attorney reported that the Sunset 0i1 Company has requested a permit to remove the pier on the tidelands. In his opinion, after reading the original lease, they cannot legally do so. Council instructed him to so notify the Sunset 0i1 Company. ,City Attorney Campbell reported that the Whiting appeal case has been settled in favor of the City. Being no further business, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded by Iilcrease, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
