Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Minutes of the meeting of August 3, 1937, read and approved. Bills audited by the Finance Committee presented: Sinking Fund No. 7 int. coups 6 450.00 Sinking Fund No. 6 int. coups 2,500.00 General payroll 1,528.25 Street Dept. ° 344.00 General expenditures 2,192.17 7,014.42 Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills be allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly,Kilcrease,Thatcher, Warner,Bird. Naves: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. i V.M.Hatfield, owner of the NW corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Tenth Street, present and requested permission to allow a junk yards. to be maintained on his property. Matter referred to the Planning Commission and Mr. Hatfield instructed to file an application for special permit for junk yard with the Commission. /Mr. Klaus, of the San Liego-California Club spoke on the activities of the Club and presented Mr. Fred master who reviewed the Pictorial section of the advertising matter of the Club. Mr. Klaus spoke of the advantages of Pictorial Publicity and asked the co-operation of the community in advertising campaign and consideration of a donation towards the expanse. Invitation from the Sl. Mathews Guild and the Vestry to the farewell reception given for Rev. Alex Campbell and family on Thursday evening, August 26th, in the Parish House, read and ordered filed. 'Communication from the Planning Commission regarding the Alexander Construction Company subdivision read and ordered filet.. Moved by Kilcrease, sem nded by Warner, that RESOLUTION NO. 1901, 100 rejecting the subdivision and instructing the City Attorney to so notify them. Carried, by the following vote -to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly,Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird. Mayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. 'Memorandum of Agreement for the expenditure of the a cent fund for Streets of Major Importance and the State Highway, ordered filed. / Petition for Ordinance causing East Eighth Street from _ A Avenue to G Avenue, to be made a stop street, read and referred to the Chief of Police. /Communication from Hiram W. Johnson, regarding the Sweetwater Union High School PWA application , read and ordered filed. /Application for liquor license of the National City Cafe ordered filed. Insurance policy for the Park Administration Bldg and the Fire and Theft policy on the Chevrolet pick-up submitted by Lila Williams. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the policies be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. /y a a RESOLUTION NO. 1902, authorizing the payment of 100 interest coupons in Series F- Due August 15, 1937, read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher, Warner, Bird. nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. / Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the following transfers be authorized: $ 450.00 from the Sp; Del. Tax Fund to Sinking Fund No. 7. 649.80 from the Sp. Gas Tax St Imp Fund to St Imp?Fund. 6.07 from the Kark M & I Fund to the General Fund. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Warner, that the Resolution be adopted. Absent: none. yO y! ,RESOLUTION NO. 1904 authorizing the payment of certain portion of the salaries of the Fireman and Policemen in the City of National City from the State Auto " In lieu" Tax Fund,'read. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. /Cornnanication from Senator Wm Gibbs McAdoo, regarding the application of the Sweetwater Union High School for a PWA grant, read and ordered filed. /Communication from the State Veterans Welfare Board requesting the cancellation of delinquent taxes and current assessments against certain property now under Veterans Welfare Loan, read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Clerk be instructed to inform the State Board that the back taxes against this property will have to be paid by former owner and authorizing the cancellation of current taxes. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. /gas' / RESOLUTION NO. 1905 authorizing the City Clerkand the City Treasurer to negotiate with AdolphLevi°and Son and authorizing.theey City Attorney to draw an agreement with Adolph Levi and on whereby the City Agrees to purchase certain lands withimthe City of rational `'ity for an amount equal to the delinquent city taxes on all their holdings in the City; the City of National City to assume the bonded indebtedness on the aforesaid certain lands, read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes4 Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent; none. / City Engineer Cayser reported that three new S R A projects have started within the last few weeks. Being no further business, it was moved byrKilcreas,e seconded by Thatebier, that the meeting adjourn.
