Councilmen present: Cordingly,Kilcrease,Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Minutes of the regular meeting of January 5, 1937, read and approved. Bills:audited by the Finance Committee presented: January 15th January 19th February 1st February 2nd general payroll St. Dept. " expenditures as general payroll St. Dept. " Library expenditures as Total per ledger per ledger Moved by Warner, sem nded by Cordingly, be allowed and warrants drawn $ 1177.50 270.00 1191.74 1833.85 335.00 418.96 978.68 $ 6205.73 that the bills for same. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. iMr. H.r.Kosky, Auditor of the Kelco Company. present and channel and turning basin requested permission for dredging/in Harbor adjacent to the tidelands. Plans and specifications were submitted. After due consideration, it was moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly and Warner, that nosobjections`be made. Carried, all Council- men present voting •.aye. 'Fred Erb, presented a petition for removal of trees. Referred to Street Superintendent. ,/Annual Report of the Fire Department, read and ordered filed. J Report of the City Court for -the month of January, 1937, read and ordered filed. 'Communication from the War Department regarding a modification of plans for a municipal yacht harbor in San Diego Bay, read and prdered filed. Letter from Ernest Rose, asking for free permit to sell fruits and vegetables, read and ordered filed. A legislative bulletin from the League of California Munic- ipflities regarding the " in lieu" tax and the moratorium on 49 Street Bond foreclosures, read and ordered filed. ✓Request of Asa R Webb for an increase in salary for his deputy which was laid over from the last meeting, up for consideration. It was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the salary for the deputy City Treasurer and Tax Collector be increased 3 12.50 per month, effective as of Feb. 1, 1937. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. / Consideration of an increase in the salary of the City Attorney submitted by Councilmen Warner. After some discussion, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the salary of the City Attorney be increased $ 25.00 per month, effective as of February 1, 1937. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. /City Attorney instructed to prepare Resolutions for the increase in salaries. jrrl j RESOLUTION NO. 1857, cancelling certain taxes assessed in the name of Forrest V Raymond, as per the request of the Veterans Welfare Board, read. Moved by Warner,•seconded:by':9ordingly,-thht the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. c '1Sd RESOLUTION NO. 1858, appointing Superintendent of Streets "Custodian of Public Buildings and Structures", read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the REsolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. JQct Iy Sq / RESOLUTION NO. 1859, cancelling 7% interest and cancellation fee on certain taxes as pnr request of Aber and Rutherford, read. Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. l Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the following transfer be authorized: q 312.37 from the Sp. Gas Tax St Imp Fund to the Street Improvement Furid. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. 50 / Ord.# which had been laid over•under the rules and according to law up for consideratSon. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Ordinance be laid over until the next meeting. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. City Engineer Cayser reported on the opening of portion of B Avenue, and recommended the acceptance of the deed of H.P and Marie Scheuerman for the IN 401 of EQ of 10 Acre Lot 2, a Sec. 152, Nat'l Ro; for street purposes only. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the deed be accepted upon approval by the City Attorney. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, and Warner, that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare the plans and specifications for the new City Hall. Carried, all Councilmen present voting a ye. ✓Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Bird, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that a fire hydrant be installed at 28th St and J Avenue. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Kilcrease, that the City Clerk be instructed to secure a drawer at the Post Office for all City mail. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. Being no furth;r business, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
