A regular meeting of the City Council called to order by
the Mayor. "ouncilmen present: Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Councilman Cordingly, absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting,of June 1st, read and approved.
Bills audited by the finance
Committee presentea:
General payroll $ 1,271.25
Street Dept " 429.00
Expenditures 3,445.36
Total $ 5,145.61
Moved by Kilcrease, sea>nded by Thatcher, that the bills be allowed
and warrants drawn for same. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ages: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Mayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: "ouncilman Cordingly.
Mr. Compton, Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Hullen, present representing
the International Four Square Gospel and requested a six weeks permit
to conduct services on the Southeast corner of Eighth Street and B
Avenue. Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the permit be
granted under the supervision of the Chief of Police and the Fire
Department. Carried; all Councilmen present voting aye.
'Harry 0. Tigh presented petition requesting the removal of
goats from the property of Grover Heath. Matter referred torthe
City Attorney for report at the next meeting.
âś“Official bond for the City Engineer Cayser presented. Moved by
Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the bond be accepted and placed on
file with the City clerk. Carried, all present voting aye.
Copy of the agreement with the San 'Jingo County Health Depart-
ment ordered filed.
d Receipt of Asa R. Webb, City Treasurer, of $ 20,228.50 for
sale of City Hall Bonds, ordered filed.
Commuhication from the State Compensation Insurance Fund
regarding renewal of policy and enclosing bill for same, read and
ordered filed.
/ Communication from City Engineer Cayser regarding the closing
down of W.P.A. projects and enclosing a letter from J.H. Rainwater
Director, Department of Public Welfare regarding same. Letters read
and ordered filed.

/Copy of the Delinquent Tax Roll for 1936-1937 submitted and
ordered filed.
/City Attorney instructed to daaw up ordinance setting a
60 day moratorium from August 15 to Oct 15, 1937, during which time
delinquent taxes may be paid without penalty.
'Mayor D.W.Bird reported that he and Councilman Thatcher
attended a conference with Representative of the State Railroad
Commission regarding the appeal of the Water rate case and a new
rate hearing. Also reported that there is a possibility that the
Water Company and Railroad Commission will negotiate for a compromise
on rate reduction.
, Mayor Bird also reported that word was expected daily;on a
revised telephone rate sbhedule here.
/Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the City Attorney
be intructed to draft a letter to Railroad Commission requesting a
revision in the telephone rates. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
/ City Attorney reported a conference with Dr. Lesem regarding
the condemnation of certain buildings in Old Town. Moved by Warner,
seconded:by Kilcrease, that Superior Court action be taken to remove
buildings. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
/Fire Chief Bird asked for instructions as to disposal of the
old fire bell. Fire Department and the Street Department ordered to
remove same.
'(/P9 0 J RESOLUTION NO. 1890, approving Corporate Surety Bond for
Calland & Eden, General Contractors, read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded
by Warner, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following
vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilerease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman IRnatei l r. Cr, pima
Being no further business, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded
by Warner, that the Council adjourn until Tuesday, June 29th, 1937,
at 7:30 P.M. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
