A regular meeting of the City Council called to
order by the Mayor. Councilmen present: Cordingly, Thatcher,
Warner, Bird. $ouncilmen absent: Kilcrease.
Minutes of the regular meeting of March 2, 1937, read
and approved.
Bills audited by the Finance Committee presented:
General payroll- March 1, 1937 $ 1,161.25
Street Dept. " " 310.00
Series D due March 15, 1937 2,100.00
Expenditures -as per ledger 1,040.12
Tpttal $ 4,611.37
Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the bills
be allowed and warrants dram for same. Carried, by the 2ellowing
vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Thatcher,Warner,Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilmen Kilcrease.
Arnold Cayser, Secretary of the Planning Commission
submitted the following written report:
1.- 0n the petition of M.y.Galland for special permit to
use Lots 21 and 22, Block 237, City Plat for automobile wrecking
and used parts storage, the Planning Commission passed and adopted
Resolution No. 54, approving same and recommending approval by the
City Council.
Moved by Cordingly,s econded by Warner, that the City Council
approve and confirm the action of the Commission. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
J 2.- 0n the petition of Mae A. Edgerton for special permit to
use W 47' of Lot 10, "lock 3, T. Parsons Addition, 10 acre Lot 16,
* Sec. 154, "at'1 Ro., for neighborhood business store, the Planning
Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. 55, approving same and
recommending approval by the City Council.
Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordinglv, that the City Council
approve and confirm the action of the Commission. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.

d 3.- On the petition of the property owners in Hills of
Paradise Subdivision to narrow East loth street, the Planning
Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. 53recommending to the
City Council that the present width of Tenth Street remain'unchanged.
Moved by Warner,seconded by Cordingly, that the City Council
deny the petition and confirm the action of the Commission. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
/Requests of the Bank of America, the John Nuveen & Co., and
the Wm. R. Staats & Co., for Notices of Sale of Bonds, read and
ordered filed.

1866, granting a refund to 0.D. and Lena Kelly on penalities, be
adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Thatcher,JJarner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Kilcrease.

coupons in Series D, read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner,
that the hesolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:

Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Kilcrease.
Claim of Ike Baruch for damages to property of $ 1,000 dollars,
read. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the claim be
denied. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Thatcher,Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Kilcrease.
Communication from The Bond Buyer, read and ordered filed.
'League of California Municipalities Legislative Bulletin No.
6, read and ordered filed.
/ Report of Harry E Bonnell and Associates, auditors, submitting
the semi-annual audit as of January 1, 1937, read. Moved by Cordingly;
seconded by Warner, that the report be accepted. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
i Mr. Donaher of the Elgin Sweeper Company present and presented
the Centel agreement for the street sweeper. After some discussion,
it was moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that RESOLUTION NO.

1868, authorizing the Mayor to alxtnximtm the agreement for the rent

of one Elgin Street sweeper for the City of National City,.be
adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:

Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Kilcrease.
City Attorney reported on the ratter of removing the
trees from alley as requested by Fred Erb. Recommended that the
City Council allow the property owners remove the trees at their
own risk.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded ry Cordingly, that the following
transfer be authorized:
/ $ 252.85 from the 3p.Cas Tax St. Imp. rund to the Street
Improvement rund.
Carried, by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmon, Cordingly, Thatcher,.Yarner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Kilcrease.
/City Attorney Campbell recommended that a Trailor Ordinance
be drafted.
if / ty, / ✓RESOLUTION NO. 1869, calling for Notice Inviting Sealed Bids
for Municipal Improvement Bonds of $ 20,000 Issued by the City of
National City, California, read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by
Warner, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
J Arnold Cayser submitted a letter from Lilian J. rice, Architect,
cpncerning her employment as consulting architect for the City Hall.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly and warner, that the City
Council confirm her appointment. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
/Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the City
Engineer be authorized to secure the services of a structural
engineer for work on the plans for the proposed City nall. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting age.
Upon the recormnendation of the Chief of Police Knapp, it
was moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher and Cordingly, that John
&. Owen be appointed as radio patrolman in the business district and
for such other duties as he night be assigned; appointment to be as of
March 15, 1937. Carriod, b-r the following vote to -wit:

J City Attorney instructed to prepare Resolution appointing
John E. Owen as radio patrolman.
/The plans for the proposed improvement of Park Administration
buildings submitted by nark Sup't Gautereaux. After consideration by
the City Council, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded uy Thatcher,
the Park Sup't be instructed to proceed with the work. Carried, by
the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Thatcher,Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen,none.
Absent: Counci&nian Kilcrease.
Being no further business, it was moved by Cordingly, seconded
by Warner, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
