7:30 P.M. by the Mayor. Councilmen present: Cordingly,
Thatcher, Warner, Bird.

./ Mr. Chas Stein present and protested the appltation for
permission to install a junk yard on First Avenue. Mayor Bird
informed him that he would be notified when the Planning Commission
-:._y:holda a public hearing on the application.
vMr. J.E.Cline requested the filling of the SE corner of inter-
section of 24th and National Avenue. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Kilcrease, that the matter be referred to the Sup't of Streets Finnerty.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
'Notice from the State Board of Equalisation of the application
of transfer of liquor license to Ed. McConley, read
and ordered filed.
Communication Faulkner, Oakes and Faulkner in regards to an annual
audit, read and ordered filed.
/Request of Joseph Ruffa for the renoval of the palm trees in the
parking on East 12th st from National Avenue to A Avenue, read. Moved
by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the request be filed. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
" Annual Report of Maintenance of State highway route in the City
of National City, by the State Department of Public Works_ Division of
Highways, District Xl, read and ordered filed.
Notice of the Ninth Annual Fall Convention of the California
Sewage Works Assn, read andvordered filed.

changes in the laws relating to Public deposits, read and ordered

Report of the City Court for the month of August, 1937, of
$ 1,381.005read and ordered filed.
✓Petition of the residents and taxpayers in the vicinity of
First Street and Alberta Court, protesting the the licensing of a
hand Laundry at the that location, read and referred to the Planning
Commission.

of the Assessed Valuation of all taxable real and personal property
for the year 1937-1938, read and ordered filed.
-Request of the Veterans Welfare Board for the cancellation of
the 1937-1938 taxes on property now under Welfare Board loan, referred
to the City Attorney for Resolution.

Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to -wit:

Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the renewal
policies on the Library be accepted and placed on file. Carried, by
the following vote to -wit:

Nayes: Councilmen none.
Absent: none.
yoy ✓RESOLUTION NO. 1907, Fixing the Tax Rate and Levying the
Taxes for the fiscal year 1937-1938, read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Kilcrease, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by
the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: none.
V Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that a warrant in the
amount of $ 37.95 be drawn in favor of the F. Geo. James, Treasurer
of the Olympic Committee to cover additional expenses. Carried, by the
following vote to -wit:

Nayes: Councilmen,/none.
Absent: none.
'Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that a warrant in the
amount of $ 6.75 be drawn in favor of B.J.Gautereaux, Sup't of the
Municipal Plunge, to cover certain admissions to the plunge. Carried,
by the following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Wilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: none.
'Resignation of Arnold F. Cayser, from the office of City Engineer,
to be effective October 1, 1937, presented. No discussion. Moved by
Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the resignation be accepted. Carried
all Councilmen present voting aye.
'City Attorney reported in regards to the request of the Sunset Oil
Company for the permission to remove the wharf. City's liability if
wharf is not removed, cited. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner,
that the City Attorney be instructed to inform the Sunset Oil Company
that permission haslbeen granted for the removal of the wharf. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
'City Auditor Harry E. Bonnell presented the audit for the period
July 1, 1936 to June 30, 1937 and requested the following cancellations
and transfers:
Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the warrant No.
23675 in the amount of $ 15.98 issued to the Burroughs Adding Machine
Co., be cancelled. Carried.
--Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly, that the warrant No.
20628 in the amount of $ 1.00 issued from the Fire Fund, be cancelled.
Carried.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the following
transfers be authorized:
$�1,680.00 from the State Auto tax fund to the General Fund,
177.50 from the M.I. B. fund to Sinking Fund No. 7.
Carried, by the following vote to -At:
Ayes:' Councilmen Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen none.
Absent: none.
Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher, that the audit be
accepted and placed on file. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye.
Chief Bird requested the installation of a fire hydrant at 4th
and Norton, a hydrant at 16th st, east of Lanoitan Avenue, and one at

approximately 450' east of Highland Avenue on Melrose Street.
Moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that the fire hydrants be
installed and the City Clerk instructed to notify the Water Company.
Carried, by the following vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen none.
Absent: none.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Warner, that the firm of harry A.
Bonnel and Associates be retained auditors for the fiscal year 1937-
1938 at $ 300.00 per annum. Carried, by the following vote to -wit;
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen none.
Absent: none. _
..City Representative Bird instructed to secure a list of furnishing
and equipment as desired by the various departmsnts and submit it to
the Council.
Being no further business, it was moved by Kilcrease,s econded.
by Cordingly, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen
present voting aye.
