Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Minutes of the regular meeting of April 21, 1936 read and approved. Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Bird, it was moved by Thatcher, seconded by Berner, that a fire hydrant be placed at 13th and J Streets. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. ./It was suggested that the Fire Chief Hake a survey of the City for locations in need of fire hydrants. 289 /The release from Harry C. Carried, all the Councilmen present voting aye. J RESOLUTION NO. regarding the re -assessment of Lighting' District No. 1, read and it was moved by 290 Cordingly, seconded by `Thatcher, that the Resolution be laid over. Carries., all Councilmen present voting aye. /RESOLU_'ION NO. 1818, AUTiHORIZING TI-E Mayor D.W.Bird, Roy -sr to sign at'agreement bet'een the WPA and the City for the sidewalks, _cad. Proved by Warner,seconded by Thatcher, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, all Oouned.lmen present voting aye. Communication from the National City Chamber of Commerce regarding the OLYLIPIC GAMES . After considerable discussion, it was moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Cordingly, that the City give all possible assistance to the Olympic Ganes committee. Carried, all Louncilmen present voting aye. 'Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the matter of six - ten foot sections of bleachers to be erected at the Pool, be referred to the City Engineer. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye. J Request for a light in the Park adjacent to the Ballgrounds, referred to the Street Commissioner Frank Cordingly. / City Engineer Cayser reported on the WPA projects for the streets, including the routing of sewers, trimming of trees, patching of pavements, and the spainkling system for the Park. He reported that the WPA will forward,tf3or approval, to t''ashington D.C. any street projects submitted by the City. He also reported that the NIA requests that the City place the youths now employed in the schools when the school term is over. Engireer Cayser also requested more time on 1-he matter of the re -opening, of McKinley Ave and the crossing at First Street. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the meeting- adjourn.
