A regular meeting of the Cit-r Council of the City of
National City, California, called to order by the iMMayor.
Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner,Bird.
Minutes of the regular meeting of may 6, 1936, read and
approved.

Councilmen present voting aye.
Communication from Harry B. Sweet, acknowledgeing the
receipt of warrant for Harry Warner for release of Sweetwater
brief, read and ordered filed.
✓ Communications rom P. Errett Killion acknowleageing
Peceipt of letter with enclosure from Lars. Randall, read and
ordered filed.
Communications from the nar Department regarding
certain applications for dredging and installation of a

marker pile, read and ordered filed.
✓ League of California L:unicipalittes Bulletihullo.3ll,
read and ordered filed. This bulletin was in regards to the
Utility corporation suit for refund of taxes paid under protest,
filed against the City of Eureka and the City of Los Angeles.
Communication from the State Compensation insurance
Fund regarding the renewal of the policy held by the City, read
and ordered filed.
✓Communication from Jay W. Stevens, secretary of the
Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs, in regards to the two
Fire Chief Conferences to be held in June, read and ordered filed.
Communications from the Division of Highways in eg rds
to the annual budget for the expenditure of the h cen A cit
streets of major importance for fiscal year ending June 30th,
1937, as required by Sec. 197 of the Streets and Highway Code,
read and ordered filed.
"It was moved by Cordingly, s econded by Warner, that
RESOLUTION N0. 1819, approving of the project statement as
submitted by the Division of Highways for the accumulation
of the n cent City Fund for Streets of Major Importance and
authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the
statemennt in behalf of the City, be adopted.Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
City Engineer reported that the "A ave sewer district
survey was being made.
RESOLUTION No. 1820, amending Resolution No. 1705,
and approving of the Fifty percent assessment for the National
City Lighting District No. 1 read, Moved by Thatcher, seconded
by Warner, that the Resolution be adopted, Carried, by the
following vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly,Kilcrease,Thatcher/ arner,
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: None.
Mayor Bird not voting.
RESOLUTION OF INT5NTION NO. 1821, NATIONAL C ITY
LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 1, road. Moved by Cordingly, seconded by
Kilcrease, that the Resolution be adopted. Carrie., all Council-
men present voting aye.

Del Dickson of the Chamber of Commerce, spoke regarding
the Beauty Contest to be held toc elect a representative of the
City of National City to enter the contest at Oceanside. After
considerable discussion, it was moved by Thatcher, seconded by
riarner, that the City Council officially endorse the Contest.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
City Engineer Cayser reported progress in three of the
submitted projects - viz:
1. patching and repairing of paved streets.
2. trimming and pruning of trees.
3. renovating existing sever systems.
Moved by Cordingly,seconded by Kilcrease, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
