A regular meeting of the
City Council called to order by
the Mayor. Councilmen presnnt: Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,
Warner, Bird.
Bills audited by the Finance Committee presented:
General payroll $ 1,061.75
Street Dept. " 229.50
Expenditures_ Oct.20-36-as por ledger 603.79
Total $ 1,895.04
Moved by Cordingly, seconded byrKilcrease, that the bills
be allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried, by the following
vote to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly,Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warnor,Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none
Ansent: Councilmen, none.
/P.r. George W. Custer present and submitted a potition
fox grading of 16th St. fro; Lamoitan to Harbison. Matter
referred to City Engineer and Sup't of Streets.
'Raymond Knight prosont and asked permission for tho Itnights
of Pythias to hang a banner advertising their Dance across 8th
Street. Moved by Cordingly, soconded by Kilcrease, and Thatcher,
that his request be granted, if supervised by the Bldg. Inspector.
Carried, all 'ouncilmen presnnt voting a ye.
'Verified protest of J.L.Goins on tho decision of the Planning
Commission, read and referred to the City Attorney.
'Petition of the residonts and property owners on Melrose St
for street light and fire hydrants read and referred to the
Commissioner of Streets.
Communication from the Fish and Game Developement Asstn
regarding the initiative measure to be presented to the
Legislature on fishing control, road and ordered filed.
/ Communication from the Los Angeles,County League of Calif.
Municipalities road and ordered filed.
Communication from the League of California Municipalities
regarding the publication entitled a " Compilation of Laws

Relating to Cities of tho Sixth Class", road and an City
Clerk instructed to answer.
Communication from B.B.Sturdovant, Public Events
Committee chairman, Chamber of Commerce, expressing their
appreciation of the coopeaation given by the Departments
of tho City in making their display at the County Fair
possible, read. Copies of the letter given to Commissioner
Thatcher and Commissioner Cordingly.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the
City Clerk be instructed to subscribe to the American City
publication for Park, Street, Engineer, Clerks and Bldg.
Inspectors offices. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye.
'/RESOLUTION NO. 1843 authorizing the cancdllation of
\';arrant 866 issued in 1914, read. Moved by Cordingly,
seconded by Thatcher, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
/ RESOLUTMON OF AWARD NO. 1844, awarding the contract for
the furnishing cf electric current for National City Lighting
District No. 1 to the San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric
Company, read. Moved by Warner,secondod by Thatcher, that the
Rgsolution bo ddopted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye.
Report of the Municipal Park Playground and Plunge, submitted
by Sup't of Parks Gautereaux, read and ordered filed.
Petition of residents in the vicinity of Nast 10th and E
Avenuerfor Street light; read, and referred to tho Commissioner
of Streets.
/Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Kilcrease, that the proper
officers be authorized to make the following transfers
749.14 from tho Sp. Gas Tax St Imp Fund to the Street
Improvement Fund.
Carried, all Councilmen present votinga ye.
J City Attorney Campbell reported that the District Court of
Appeals uphold the decision of tho Whiting case. Upon the advice
of tho Attorney, it was moved by Thatcher, seconded by Cordingly

and (Varner, that the City of National 8ity appeal to the State
Supteme Court. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
City Engineer Cayser reported that the plans for the city
Mall were progressing.
There being no further business, it was moved by Cordihgly,
seconded by Kilcrcase, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all
Councilmen presont votinga ye.
