Councilmen present: Cordingly,Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird. Minutes of the regular meeting of August 18, 1936, read and approved. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher,Warner, Bird. Nayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: none. ✓Rev. Jones, chairman of the Library Board, present and asked the Council to adopt the Library Budget. After considerable discussion it was decided not to increase the budget for the Library this year, but to leave it within the decretion of the Council to aid the funds by transfers. The matter of the Planning Commission up for discussion. It was decided to ask the members of the Commission to meet the same night as the Council. No other action taken at this time. JA.S.Graf present and spoke regarding the possibility of a license for coffee routes. Matter taken under advisement. /Rev. B.S.Dutton of the Christian and Missionary Alliance present and asked permission to conduct meetings at the corner of, 9th and National Avenue. Matter referred to the Chief of Police. ✓ Written invitation from Schwabacher and Frey Co., to visit their reception room during the Convention at Santa Monica, read and placed on file. 'Claim by the Smileage Company by Burr Prentice, read and referred to the City Attorney. /Moved by Warner, seconded by Cordingly, that the City Clerk be instructed to write a letter of authorization to theDivision of Highways for the installation of the reflectorized fire station signs. Ca rried, all Councilmen present voting aye. /Report of the Planning Commission on the petition of Filth E. Pfeil, read and filed for future action. 'Invitation from Mayor Ed. S. Gillette of Santa Monica to attend the Convention, read and ordered filed. Letter of authorization from the Bush Citrus Co. and Geo. S. Vanderburg fordthe removal of earth from Block 216 and Block 279, City Plat, read and ordered filed. l '3tatement of the City Auditor to the State Board of Equalization of the assessed value of property for year 193637, read and ordered filed. deport of the City Court for the month of August, 1936, read and ordered filed. /Notice of Election Officers and Polling Places for the Special Bond Election to be held Sept. 17, 1936, read and ordered filed. / Communications from Stephenson-Jeydecker and Company and the Bond Buyer, regarding the forthcoming bond issue, read and ordered filed. /Communication from the Division of Parks regarding the initiative measure for oil drilling, ordered filed. /Petition of property owners for installation of fire hydrant near loth or llth Sts., and Paradise Drive, read and Deferred to the Fire Chief. JCouncilmen Warner excused. 3T8' 17 Harry E. Connell, auditor, presented his final audit report to the City Council. After some discussion and explanation, it was moved fl by Thatcher, sedonded by Cordingly and Kilcrease, that the audit be accepted. Carried, by the Following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease,Thatcher, Bird. Hayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: Councilman Warner. Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher, that the 1936-37 audit be given to Harry E Bonnell and Associates, on the same basis as the 1935-36 audits. Carried, by the following vote to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Eilcrease,Thatcher,Bird. Hayes: Councilmen, none. Absent: Councilman Warner. Beigg no further business, thm it was moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the meeting adjourn. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
