National City, California, July 23, 1935.
The adjourned meeting of the City Council of the
City of National City called to order by the Mayor.
Councilmen present: Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Bird.
Absent: Councilman Warner.
Minutes of the regular meeting of July 16, 1935, read
and approved.
The water report of the San Diego County Health Dept.
for the Swimming Pool read and ordered filed.
o Communication from the League of California Municipal-
ities regarding the necessity of a valuation engineer to
represeht the League cities before the State Board of Equal-
ization in the Utility hearings, read. Moved by Kilcrease,
seconded by Cordingly that a warrant be drawn in favor of
the League for $ 35.00 as our contribution towards the
expense incurred in the hiring of a valuation engineer.
Carried, by the following vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Cordingly, Kilcrease, Thatcher, 13it'd.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Warner.
Communication from the National Emergency Council
regarding the types of application to be considered by the
Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works and the
Works Progress Administration, read and ordered filed.
o Communication from the County Clerk asking that the
taxes on the Clara Gallagher property be cancelled.
Moved by Cordingly, seconded by Thatcher, that the taxes
be aancelled. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
'Report of the Police Department for the month of June,
1935, read and ordered filed.
o Quarterly report of the City Treasurer read and orderdd
filed.
o Quarterly report of the City Clerk read and ordered
filed.

°ORDINANCE NO. 640 amending Ord, 538 of the City
of National City, California, relating to the Assesst;ent
Levy and Collection of Taxes, was placed on final passage
and on the motion of Thatcher,-sedonded by Kilcrease, same
was adopted. All Councilmen present voting aye,
'RESOLUTION NO. 1777 , appointing time and place mf
for Hearing Protests and Directing City Clerk to give n
notice of said hearing, rea . Moved by Thatcher, seconded
by Cordingly, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried,
all Councilmen present voting aye.
Mr. Sturdevant of the S.D.Cons Gas & Electric Co.
present regarding the cost of installation and maintenance
of a street light at the 1ational City Packing Co;pang.
Matter laid over until next meeting.
.Upon the recommendation the Chief Knapp, it was
moved by Thatcher,seconded by Kilcrease, that S. I%olchanofff
be granted a license for two card tables. Carried, all
Councilmen present voting aye.
Communication from City Attorney J.A.Isaacson
recommending that the claim of Mrs. Ruth Jennings be
denied, Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher,that
the claim be denied. Carried, All Councilmen present
voting aye.
The Finance Committee requested more time to consider
the bids for legal printing. Granted.
Moved by Bird, sedonded by Thatcher, that the meeting
ad¢ourn. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
