National City,California June 18, 1935.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
National City, California, called to order by the Mayor.
Councilmen present: Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, and Bird.
Councilmen absent: Cordingly.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Bills audited by the Finance Committee presented:

Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the bills be
allowed and warrants drawn for same. Carried by the following
vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Cordingly.
Louie May present regarding the removal of trees on the
Blower property. Matter referred to the Superintendent of
Streets Floyd Finnerty.

ordered filed.
Contract from Hazard -Gould & Co. for the sewer pump ordered
held over until the next meeting.
Contract from the San ilego 'sons. Gas & Electric eo. fora.
the power line to the sewer pump read. Moved by Warner, seconded
by Thatcher, that the City Clerk and Mayor be authorized to sign
the contract. Carried by the following vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, "ird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Cordingly.
✓Request of the National City Packing "ompany for a street
light referred to Commissioner of Streets Cordingly.
Contract submitted by the Bowman Motor Company for the
new Ford V 81s ordered held over until the net meeting.
U Communication from 0.M.Ward, Sr. requesting a license to
operate a pool hall and c1rd room, formerly in the' name of Ed

McConley. There being no objection from th•: Police Department,
it was moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that the request
be granted. Carried, all councilmen present voting aye.
Communication from Richard Li Bates, Jr. regarding the
appaopiations for the new City hall, read and ordered filed
'RESOLUTION NO. 1773, authorizing the Notice Inviting
Bids for the Publication of Legal Notices, read. It was
moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the RESOLUTION be
adopted. Carried, by the following vote to wit!
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
luayes: Councilmen None
Absent::, Councilman Cordingly.
' The letter. of Certification of the petition for
Annexation from Dale Smith, City Clerk, read. The letter
is as follows:
National City, California
June 18, 1935
To the Honorable Council of the
City of National City, California
Gentlemen:
This is to certify that I have c;refully checked those
certain petitions, 59 in number, requesting that an election be
called in the City of National City for the purpose of voting
npbd:. the proposition of whether the said City of ational City
shall Le consolidated with the City of San Diego and the
property within such cities be subject to taxation to pay
any outstanding bonded indebtedness of such cities; and find
that such petitions are signed by more than one -quarter in
number of the qualified electors within the City of National
City as shown by the Registration of Electors of the County
of San Diego.

It was moved by Kildrease, seconded by Thatcher, that the
letter be accepted. Carried, all Councilmen present voting
aye.
' Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher, that the
City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary papers
to call a Special Election. Carried, all Councilmen present
voting aye.
°RESOLUTION NO. 1774, authorizing the transfer of the
balances in certain funds to the General Fund, read. It was
moved by Warner, seconded by Thatcher, that the resolution
be adopted. Carried, by the following vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilman Cordingly.
roved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the Council
adjourn. Carried.
