National City, California, March 19, 1935.
A regulab meeting of the City Council called to order
by the Mayor. Councilmen present, Kilcrease, Thatcher, War-
ner, and Bird. Councilmen absent, Cordingly.
Minutes of the regular meeting of March 5, 1935, read
and approved.

Communication from the League of Municipalitdes
Headquarters at Sacramento aegarding the Digest of legis-
lative bills read&and ordered filed.
Communication from the City Council of Coronado re-
garding legislative bills which they are supporting and
opposing, read and ordered filed. A summary of the bills
rware read by the Mayor and discussion followed. Moved by
Thatcher, seconded by Warner that the City Council of Nat-
ional City endoree the action of the League of Tuni6ipalit-
ies regarding the legislative bills. Carried, all Council-
men present toting aye.
Communication from the Planning Commission submitting
the decision of the Commission regarding the petition of the

National City Salvage Co. to erect a building on their
premises, read and ordered filed. The City Clerk instru-
cted to notify the Nat'l City Salvage Co. of the decision.
°Communication from the Midtown Ass'n regarding the bills
now pending in the Legislature regarding the use of gas tax
money for street lighting, read and ordered filed.
Bill of the Chemical Equipment Corp. read and orldered
filed.
°Communication from the County of San Diego regarding
the cancellation of taxes on the F.L. and Alice Foster
property. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the
taxes be cancelled. Carried, by the following vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilemn, Cordingly.
-Communication from the Sunset 811 Co. regarding the
extension of the permit issued to the Sunset Pacific 0i1
Co., and also requesting that the permit be transferred.
Moved by Thatcher, seconded by Warner, that the request
be allowed. Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
4 Communication from the War Department regarding the
dreggeing of the channel to Glorietta Bay, read and ordered
filed.
Communication from the Division of Highways regarding
the additional allocation at gas tax money read and laid on
the table until the next meeting. The City Clerk instructed
go notify the Street Commissioner Cordingly of the commun-
ication; also to write to the Division of Highways asking
how and when the payment of money due on the work on Nat'l
Ave, will be paid to the City.
.Communication from V.M.Habfield of Chula Vista read
and ordered filed.
Mayor Bird Deported that 18 street signs have been
ordered by an unknown benefactor for the City. The City jpo
stand the expense of installation.
The Council discussed the water rate case now in
Federal Court. City Attorney Isaacson submitted a letter
from the Railroad Commission regarding the fileing of briefs

and the time limit on same. It was decided to hold a joint
meeting with the City Council of Chula Vista, Friday evening
at Chula Vista to appoint an attorney to represent the two
cities jointly.
RESOLUTION NO. 1767, directing and authorizing the City
Attorney to appear in a certain action on behalf of the City
of National City; read. Moved by Thatcher, seconded by
Warner, that the Resolution be adopted. Carried, by the
following vote to wit:
Ayes: Councilmen, Kilcrease, Thatcher, Warner, Bird.
Nayes: Councilmen, none.
Absent: Councilmen, Cordingly.
Moved by Kilcrease, seconded by Thatcher, that the
City Council of National City endorse the TOWNSEND PLAN.
Carried, all Councilmen present voting aye.
Moved by Warner, seconded by Kilcrease, that the City
Council adjourn. Carried. All Councilmen present voting
aye.
